A useful little display before it is a smart sensor
TIMMERFLOTTE makes sense as a room thermometer first. For the listed $11.99 plus two AAA batteries, it shows temperature and humidity without requiring a hub. You can put it beside a bed or in a utility room without routing a power cable to the shelf.
That is an appealingly small commitment for a basic question: is this room warmer or more humid than you expected? It does not need to become a heating-control project to earn its place.
The fading screen determines where it belongs
The display fades while idle and returns when you tap it, showing temperature followed by humidity. That suits a spot within reach, but makes it much less useful high on a shelf or across a room. If you want a number that is always visible from your chair, choose an always-on display instead.
Battery power is the benefit on the other side of that compromise. There is no visible USB cable, and the AAA format is straightforward to replace. The batteries being excluded is a small but unnecessary extra at checkout, particularly if you buy several sensors.
Connect it when a history would help
With suitable Matter and Thread hardware, the measurements can feed a connected history or threshold rule. Home Assistant and SmartThings support temperature and humidity readings. That adds value when you want to see overnight changes rather than a single number at the moment you tap the screen.
It does not automatically replace the temperature sensor used by a thermostat. Buy it for room monitoring unless your actual heating system supports the control arrangement you need. For CO₂ or particles, ALPSTUGA measures those different things and uses USB power.
