Heiman H1-M Temperature and Humidity Sensor

A tiny display with an expensive habit

Heiman H1-M makes more sense on a desk than hidden behind furniture. Its LCD shows temperature and humidity together, with battery and comfort icons beside them. You can glance at the room conditions without reaching for a phone or pressing a button. The 42 mm body and small stand give it a modest footprint beside a monitor or on a bedside table.

That is a useful convenience, but it costs. Smartdomo had H1-M in stock at €29.90 including VAT on September 10, 2026. German delivery adds €4.99 to a single unit, bringing it to €34.89. At that price, I would buy it for the visible display in one useful spot, not as the default sensor for every room.

Easy to place, less appealing to maintain

The included stand lets the sensor sit upright; an adhesive mounting plate provides a wall option. With a body just 17.8 mm deep, it avoids the bulk and power cable of a larger room monitor. The little LCD suits a nearby glance better than reading a number from the other side of a room.

Battery life is the awkward part. Heiman's current H1-M specification estimates 6.6 months from one CR2450, and Smartdomo quotes up to six months. Those are estimates, not our measurements, but they are short enough to affect the purchase. Several units around a home would mean a recurring round of coin-cell replacements.

The three-year figure sometimes shown for this product family is not the figure to use for H1-M. Nor would I pay extra for claims of greater precision: the current manual does not establish a numerical accuracy or reporting interval that would justify that premium. Displaying decimal places does not prove better measurement.

Useful room history, if you actually use it

H1-M is on the Works with Home Assistant certified list. With a suitable Matter controller and Thread border router, it can feed temperature and humidity into a local dashboard and automations. That gives it a purpose beyond the display: seeing whether a room stays humid overnight can be more useful than checking it once in the morning.

The sensor measures those two conditions. It does not measure CO₂ or particles, and connecting it does not automatically make a thermostat use it as its room sensor. If all you want is a number on the desk, an existing standalone thermometer may already do enough.

Pay for the glance, or save with IKEA

Germany's IKEA TIMMERFLOTTE lists at €7.99 before two AAA batteries and delivery. Its 65 mm body is wider, and you press it to show temperature followed by humidity. Heiman's smaller body and simultaneous display are the reasons to spend the extra €21.91 on the device itself.

Choose H1-M when those details improve a place you use daily and changing a coin cell roughly twice a year sounds acceptable. Choose TIMMERFLOTTE for inexpensive room coverage when tapping for a reading is fine. Keep a working sensor if it already supplies the readings or history you need; H1-M does not offer a demonstrated measurement upgrade merely because it uses Matter.
