Bosch Door/Window Contact II [+M]

Bosch Door/Window Contact II [+M] is a flexible contact sensor for buyers who want either direct Matter setup or Bosch Smart Home services. It is strongest when the automation has a clear job, such as heating pause or entry alerts, and weaker if you expect Bosch's alarm behavior to become identical inside every Matter ecosystem.

A simple sensor with two personalities

Door/Window Contact II [+M] can report open or closed state directly to a Matter ecosystem, or it can live inside Bosch Smart Home. The hardware is useful either way, but the experience changes depending on the setup path.

Direct Matter is the cleaner route for simple automations: turn on a light, trigger a notification, or pause a thermostat when a window opens. Bosch Smart Home is the better route when the contact sensor is part of Bosch's alarm system, heating routines, or app-specific button actions.

Setup path

For direct Matter setup, use a Matter controller with Thread border router support. Place the sensor where Thread coverage is reliable before sticking it down, especially on exterior frames.

For Bosch Smart Home setup, pair it with Smart Home Controller II. From there it can participate in Bosch services and, where supported, be bridged outward to another Matter ecosystem.

Where it fits

It makes the most sense when it has a named job. A bedroom window can pause a radiator valve. A hallway door can turn on a light. A cabinet or mailbox can send a simple open-close event.

Do not treat it as a complete security system by itself. Matter can expose contact state, but alarm modes, service rules, and notification behavior depend heavily on the app handling the sensor.

Should you buy it?

Buy Door/Window Contact II [+M] if you want Bosch hardware with a direct Matter option. Skip it if your setup depends on Bosch's full alarm or heating services appearing unchanged in a non-Bosch Matter app.

Best for

  • Open-close automations on doors, windows, cabinets, and mailboxes
  • Heating pause routines with Bosch radiator thermostats
  • Bosch Smart Home users who may later move the sensor to direct Matter

Skip if

  • You do not have Thread coverage or a Bosch controller path
  • You need Bosch alarm services entirely inside a third-party Matter app
  • The mounting location has metal or deep frames that block reliable radio performance
