tink Basics Matter Door & Window Sensor

Useful on the right window, less convincing at full basket price

The tink Basics Door & Window Sensor makes sense on a window whose opening should pause a radiator, or a cupboard whose door should switch on a light. Those are useful, specific jobs for a plain white sensor. Adding one to every opening is less compelling when nobody has decided what should happen afterward.

The attraction is straightforward ownership: two ordinary AAA batteries, adhesive fitting and no extra tink app. The compromise is price. At the checked single-unit offer, it is no longer an obvious budget choice merely because Basics is printed on the box.

The 10 mm allowance is a real distinction

tink specifies a maximum 10 mm separation between the sensor and magnet when closed. That gives more room than IKEA MYGGBETT's requirement of less than 5 mm. If the available mounting surfaces leave a modest gap, the difference can matter more than another ecosystem logo.

It does not solve every frame. A deep rebate, protruding handle or offset surface can still prevent the two pieces from lining up. The package uses adhesive, and there is no listed spacer kit or thin spare magnet. Aqara Door and Window Sensor P2 includes a thin alternative magnet; Eve Door & Window supplies spacers. Those are more useful reasons to consider either than an assumed improvement in reporting speed.

The long white housing will remain visible on many frames. A neat installation is one that leaves room to open the window and access the batteries, rather than squeezing the sensor into the smallest apparent gap. We have not tested its fit or reporting delay on a physical window.

Ordinary batteries are the maintenance benefit

The selected T200019 single-sensor bundle includes the sensor pair, two AAA batteries and adhesive. That avoids a separate first-use battery purchase, and replacement cells are easy to find. Do not assume the same contents for an unbundled sensor from another listing.

tink describes long battery life without publishing a quantified interval in the checked product material. Two batteries are therefore a maintenance format, not evidence of longer endurance than a one-cell competitor. Keep the battery compartment accessible instead of making removal part of a dismantling job.

The app decides what an open window does

This is a direct Matter-over-Thread sensor for a home with a compatible Matter controller and Thread border router. It reports separation of the two parts. The connected platform supplies notifications and automations; it does not identify who opened the door, tell you whether it is locked, or sound a local siren.

A window-triggered heating pause is useful only when the chosen platform can control the relevant thermostat. Simply putting both products in the same home does not create that routine. A cupboard-light trigger is often the clearer purchase because its result is easy for the household to understand.

Buy the mounting fit, not the discount percentage

On September 10, 2026, tink's German store listed the single package at €26.39 including VAT, against a €35 recommended price. Standard delivery adds €4.95, making €31.34. Shipping is waived at €99 or through the free tink Plus newsletter membership; that optional sign-up is not assumed in the total.

The three-pack was €59.99 with six AAA batteries included, or €64.94 with standard delivery. That lowers the hardware cost to about €20 per sensor, but only if three openings need monitoring.

IKEA MYGGBETT was €7.99 in Germany before one AAA battery and any delivery. It is the stronger budget starting point where its tighter gap fits. Choose tink for the extra mounting allowance or a useful bundle; keep an existing sensor if it already reports dependably and sits neatly on the frame.
