tink Basics Matter Door & Window Sensor (T200019)

An open window can waste more heat than a clever thermostat saves. The tink Basics Matter Door & Window Sensor is a small, relatively cheap way to turn that physical state into an automation. It can also monitor a door, cabinet, or drawer. At €26.39 during this check, the single package includes the sensor, magnet, two AAA batteries, adhesive, instructions, and a Matter code.

The useful part is the direct setup path. T200019 uses Matter over Thread, with no tink hub and no separate tink app. The less convenient part is that the home must already have a compatible Matter controller and Thread border router near the mounting point. Matterhome has not tested the sensor, so the recommendation rests on tink's current product data, its launch article, and the exact certification records.

Make the mounting gap the first test

tink specifies a maximum 10 mm gap between the sensor and magnet when the door or window is closed. The two parts attach with an adhesive pad, so pairing and a dry-fit should happen before anything is pressed onto a frame. Offset trim, a deep rebate, or a sliding window can turn a simple installation into an alignment problem.

The sensor measures 24 x 50 x 73 mm and weighs 32 g according to tink's product table. It uses two replaceable AAA batteries. tink does not publish a battery-life estimate on the current page, which makes battery status in the chosen platform worth checking during setup.

Test the open and closed state from the final position before removing the adhesive backing. A battery sensor does not extend the Thread mesh, and a door at the edge of the network may behave differently from the same sensor sitting beside a border router. If state changes arrive slowly or intermittently, improve Thread coverage before mounting several sensors.

Four listed ecosystems, one important omission

tink lists Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa, and SmartThings for this exact package. Its current certification records identify the contact sensor as product ID 0x0937; the newer record covers firmware 2.1.2, Thread and Bluetooth commissioning, and Matter 1.3.

Those facts support the shared job: reporting whether the contact is open or closed. They do not prove that every platform exposes identical notifications, battery readings, history, or automation conditions. Pair one unit in the app that will run the routine, then verify the complete behavior instead of stopping after the tile appears.

Home Assistant is not listed on the product page. General Home Assistant Matter support is not product-specific evidence, so buyers who depend on it should confirm commissioning, contact and battery entities, and Thread credential handling with their own Matter server before purchase.

There is no local siren. The sensor reports state to the connected platform, which can then send a notification or trigger another device. That is appropriate for pausing heating when a window opens or switching a closet light. It is not a substitute for an alarm that must sound even when the controller, network, or phone notification path fails.

Start with the routine, then scale out

The best use is a routine with one clear consequence. Pause a radiator when the window opens, turn on a utility-room light when the door moves, or warn when a normally closed cabinet is left open. Test the trigger, delay, recovery, and every required household notification before relying on it.

Aqara Door and Window Sensor P2 is the closest native Matter-over-Thread alternative and has a thin magnet plate for awkward frames. Eve Door & Window has a longer Thread history and a more established firmware path. IKEA MYGGBETT is another low-cost Thread option where it is sold.

T200019 is the sensible choice when the price is attractive, Thread is already healthy, and open-close state is the whole job. Buy one before the discounted multipacks. If it reports promptly from the final frame and the chosen ecosystem exposes the alert or automation you need, then scaling to more doors and windows becomes a much safer purchase.
