The simple open-and-closed sensor
MYGGBETT is the contact sensor in IKEA's Matter lineup. Put one half on the door or window and the other on the frame, then use the open or closed state for a notification, light trigger, or automation.
This is the kind of device where Matter's value is obvious. A contact sensor is simple enough that the basic state should travel well across ecosystems, as long as the Thread network is in place.
Setup path
MYGGBETT uses Matter over Thread. Pair it with a Thread-capable Matter controller, or add it through DIRIGERA if you want IKEA Home smart involved. IKEA says it can send smartphone notifications when connected to a hub and can combine with a smart lightbulb.
Do not stick it down permanently until you have confirmed the state changes in the final app. Door gaps, trim shape, metal doors, and distance from the mesh can all matter more than the spec sheet.
Where it fits
Use it on ordinary doors, windows, cabinets, and storage spaces. It is also the better IKEA Matter sensor for "did something open?" checks, while MYGGSPRAY is better for "did someone move nearby?"
This is not a replacement for a certified alarm sensor. Treat it as a smart home automation sensor, not the only thing protecting a door.
Should you buy it?
Buy MYGGBETT if you already have Thread and want a cheap open/closed trigger. Skip it for security-critical use, awkward mounting locations, or any door where you cannot confirm reliable reporting before installation.
Best for
- Doors, windows, cabinets, and mailbox-style open/closed checks
- Simple automations with KAJPLATS bulbs or GRILLPLATS plugs
- Buyers who want a replaceable battery instead of a sealed sensor
Skip if
- You do not have a Thread border router
- Your door or frame leaves no room for both sensor halves
- You need alarm-system-grade reliability from an untested Matter setup
