More than an on-off plug

Smart Plug Compact [+M] is the Bosch Matter plug to pay attention to. Bosch lists it in the direct [+M] product line, and the product page specifies Zigbee 3.0 and Thread. Because it is powered, Bosch also describes it as a way to increase radio range for smart devices, including Matter systems over Thread.

That makes it useful in rooms where small battery devices need a stronger Thread mesh. It can control a lamp or appliance and make nearby sensors or radiator valves less isolated.

Setup path

For direct Matter setup, use a Matter controller with Thread border router support. Pair it into the ecosystem where you want basic on/off control and automations.

For Bosch Smart Home setup, use Smart Home Controller II. That route is better if you care about Bosch's energy view, standby behavior, device-purpose settings, and Bosch automations.

Where it fits

Use it for lamps, fans, seasonal lighting, media gear, or appliances within its rated load. It is especially useful near Bosch Door/Window Contact II [+M], Motion Detector II [+M], or Radiator Thermostat II [+M] devices because the powered plug can help nearby Thread devices reach the network.

The main catch is ecosystem feature depth. Matter gets the plug into more systems, but energy reporting and Bosch-specific settings are not guaranteed to look the same everywhere.

Should you buy it?

Buy Smart Plug Compact [+M] if you are building a Bosch or Thread-based Matter setup in a compatible outlet region. Skip it if you just need a cheap plug or if you require complete energy history in a specific Matter app.
