Four smart sockets make sense in one corner
Shelly Power Strip 4 Gen4 is a good fit under a desk or behind a media cabinet, where several suitable devices share one wall outlet but should not share one schedule. Each of its four Schuko sockets switches independently, has its own button, and records its own power and energy use. That is a more coherent setup than stacking four smart adapters on an ordinary strip.
The current European price is €59.90 including VAT before delivery. Four Tapo P110M plugs at the current €12.90 sale price cost €51.60, so Shelly asks €8.30 more. That premium buys the strip itself, one mains lead, per-socket controls, and a neater footprint. It is poor value when only one device needs control, but reasonable when all four outlets have a job.
The shared limit matters more than the socket count
Four sockets do not provide four full-capacity circuits. Shelly rates each outlet for up to 12 A, while the whole strip is limited to 16 A and 3680 W. A monitor, speakers, and lamps are a more convincing cluster than several demanding heaters or kitchen appliances. The connected equipment and total load still need checking.
The body is 237 × 56 × 43 mm and the cord is 1.5 m long. That should sit neatly along furniture, but it does not solve a distant wall socket. Each outlet has its own physical button, and holding the first button turns all four off. The colored indicators can show load and offer a dimmer night mode, which is more useful than bright fixed LEDs beside a bed.
Matter handles switching; Shelly adds the depth
Matter over 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi is the default setup, so the strip needs neither a Shelly hub nor a Thread border router. The printed guide provides a direct QR-code commissioning path. Zigbee is available as an alternative mode, not a second connection that runs alongside Matter.
Shelly's app and local web interface provide the detailed energy view, schedules, local actions, scripting, and LED settings. Those are meaningful reasons to choose this strip, but not every Matter controller is documented to expose the same measurements or history. Buy it knowing that the deepest controls may remain in Shelly's interface.
This is not a reason to replace a working passive strip and several reliable smart plugs. It is a tidy starting point when four nearby loads need individual control. For one or two sockets, or devices spread around the room, Tapo P110M Europe remains the cheaper and more flexible buy.
