Shelly 2L Gen4 reaches Europe with Matter over Wi-Fi ready

Shelly's 2L Gen4 is now in stock in its European store for €38.90 including VAT, as checked on September 22, 2026. Shelly had listed this two-circuit, no-neutral relay as “coming soon” in its September 3 IFA announcement. The useful change is that buyers can now order the exact model, S4SW-0A2X4EUL, with Matter over Wi-Fi available out of the box. Shelly has not published an exact first-sale date, and shipping is extra.

This is for a wall position controlling two suitable lighting circuits, such as a ceiling light and accent lights. Shelly rates output 1 to 200 W and output 2 to 700 W at 220 to 240 V, 50 Hz. The included bypass needs to be fitted at the light on output 1 for LED loads, according to the exact-model specifications; incandescent lights are exempt. Shelly's store copy more broadly suggests that sufficiently large loads can run without a bypass, so the narrower LED instruction is the sensible basis for planning an installation. An electrician should confirm the circuit and fitting.

The currently stocked 2L Gen3 costs €36.90 in the same EU store. At a €2 difference, Gen4 is the easier new purchase if you want Matter immediately and the option to switch the relay to Zigbee later. That Zigbee profile replaces its Wi-Fi/Matter mode; it does not run both at once. A working Gen3 already has a Matter firmware and activation path, so basic two-circuit control alone is not a reason to replace it.

This launch does not deliver Shelly's announced ThreadLink firmware. The 2L Gen4's documented current Matter connection is Wi-Fi, and Shelly has not named this exact model as eligible for a future ThreadLink release. The buying review covers the electrical limits and alternatives in more detail.
