The small extras are the reason to buy

Plug Mini EU makes more sense beside an existing SwitchBot accessory than as the cheapest way to schedule a lamp. It combines an ordinary controllable outlet with a small SwitchBot gateway, five schedules stored on the plug and nearby Bluetooth control when Wi-Fi is unavailable. Those are useful extras for a socket that already has a clear job.

A lamp following the same evening routine can keep its saved schedule without internet access. If Wi-Fi fails, the SwitchBot app can still switch the plug over Bluetooth while you are nearby. Initial app onboarding needs Wi-Fi or a hotspot; Bluetooth fallback is not remote access from outside the house. The physical button is there for ordinary on/off use too.

The meter has two useful homes, neither through Matter

SwitchBot's app shows power and consumption history, so you can compare a suitable appliance's active and idle use before deciding whether to change its routine. The manufacturer documents a year of history. Local Bluetooth can still show real-time power during a Wi-Fi outage, but daily totals and historical data need network synchronization.

Matter provides outlet control without sending the meter readings. That is a definite limitation of this plug, rather than a feature to assume will appear after adding it to Apple Home or Google Home. If you want occasional consumption checks, opening SwitchBot may be fine; if one shared dashboard is the whole point, it is a meaningful drawback.

Home Assistant has a separate option: its SwitchBot Bluetooth integration supports this exact EU plug's power, voltage, current and accumulated consumption. It needs working Bluetooth within range and the device's encryption credentials, entered directly or imported from a SwitchBot account. That extra connection can make the meter useful in Home Assistant, but it does not add energy reporting to Matter or transfer SwitchBot's history charts.

A gateway with less room than the headline suggests

The plug can serve up to ten supported SwitchBot Bluetooth devices as a gateway. Sharing accessories through Matter has a much smaller limit: two slots, including the plug itself. Keep its outlet tile in Matter and only one accessory slot remains. You can remove the plug from that selection to share two supported accessories instead.

That can save a separate hub for a small nearby collection. It is a poor replacement for a larger bridge when you want several accessories in Apple Home or Google Home. Switching its output off leaves the gateway working; unplugging the whole device does not. Basic Matter outlet control uses 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi without a SwitchBot hub or Thread border router.

The 16 A label does not make it a heater controller

The exact EU manual says not to power heating or life-support equipment and warns against prolonged high-wattage use. Its 16 A/3,680 W maximum does not override those restrictions. Choose it for a suitable ordinary load, rather than a space heater you hope to automate.

Its 53 × 53 × 86 mm overall dimensions include a substantial adapter between appliance and socket. The round white body is unobtrusive, but measure furniture clearance and adjacent outlets before ordering several. Delivery changes the value

On September 10, 2026, SwitchBot's EU store had one for €19.80, two for €39.60 and four for €69.90. Eligible orders below €99 add €9.99 standard delivery: €29.79 for one, €49.59 for two or €79.89 for four. The two-pack has no hardware discount; four save €9.30 against four singles before delivery, provided all four have a purpose.

For ordinary switching and metering, Tapo P110M Europe is the stronger budget starting point: its checked German offer was €12.90 plus €3.90 standard German delivery. Eve Energy Europe is worth comparing for its account-free app and Thread role in an already equipped home.

Choose SwitchBot when the nearby accessory gateway or Bluetooth fallback earns its premium. Keep a working smart plug if the only gain would be another brand's on/off tile.
