Keep the switch, spend on the windows

WAGO's best feature is that you do not have to look at it. The module sits behind the existing blind controls, so adding automation need not introduce a different switch design into every room. That is a strong reason to choose it when the current wall plates already match the rest of the house.

The price helps. On September 9, 2026, Smattex listed the Thread model, 2757-1106, in stock at €50.05 including VAT, plus €4.70 German shipping for one. That is roughly half the €99.95 hardware price of Eve Shutter Switch. Eve includes a new visible control; WAGO makes more sense when you want to keep the one you have. Neither price includes the electrician.

The 46 × 46 × 22 mm module is compact, with orange lever terminals that suit an installation product. Compact does not mean it fits behind every switch: the electrician needs room for the wiring as well. It controls a compatible 200–240 V motor drawing up to 3 A, with its own end-position switches. It does not motorize a manual blind.

The wall buttons remain useful

With the default configuration, the local inputs drive the outputs directly. The household can still move the shade when the smart-home network is unavailable. That is more valuable than another app feature when someone simply wants daylight in the morning.

On a venetian blind, a short button press adjusts the slats or stops a moving blind; a long press sends it to an end position. Keeping familiar physical controls also makes a multi-room installation easier for guests and family members who never use the app.

WAGO's project handoff is another worthwhile detail. The electrician can prepare the devices and travel settings in the WAGO app, then transfer that configuration to the homeowner through Home Setup. For several windows, a finished, documented handover is worth asking for in the installation quote.

Buy the features that exist now

This version needs a Matter controller and Thread border router. The otherwise similar 2757-1105 uses Wi-Fi, so choose by the network already available in the home. WAGO's app is optional for basic commissioning, but some settings and the Android fallback for firmware updates live there. Apple Home is its documented iOS update fallback. There can therefore be more app maintenance than the single Matter logo suggests.

WAGO also advertises hardware prepared for energy measurement, with reporting to arrive through a future Matter update. Do not pay for that promise. This is currently a purchase for shade control and local buttons, not for monitoring motor consumption.

WAREMA's Xeenos Go venetian-blind actuator is a more expensive specialist option. Its fixed tilt timing deserves attention before paying the premium. WAGO is the more appealing starting point when retained switches and cost matter, while Eve is worth the extra for its finished wall control and Apple shading features. For slatted blinds, have the installer demonstrate the exact height and tilt controls in your chosen app before repeating the purchase across the house.
