Eve MotionBlinds Upgrade Kit for Roller Blinds

Eve MotionBlinds Upgrade Kit is the Matter-over-Thread route when you like the blinds you already own but want motorized control. It can be the right upgrade, but only after tube size, blind width, battery access, and Thread coverage all check out.

The retrofit path

Eve MotionBlinds Upgrade Kit is for a roller blind you already own. Instead of buying a new custom shade, you replace the chain mechanism with a battery-powered motor that speaks Matter over Thread.

That is attractive if the fabric and fit are already right. It is frustrating if the existing blind is a poor candidate, so measurements are the whole game.

Setup path

Before thinking about Matter, check the physical blind. Eve sells variants for small and large diameter tubes, with different tube sizes, minimum widths, and torque. Some existing blinds will not fit.

After installation, setup uses a Matter controller with Thread border router support. Because the motor is battery powered, it is a Thread endpoint. A powered Thread router somewhere nearby can make the difference between a polished automation and an unreliable one.

Where it fits

The kit fits a home office, bedroom, nursery, or sun-facing room where opening and closing the shade on a schedule would be genuinely useful. It is especially sensible when the blind is already the right fabric and size.

If you are already unhappy with the blind itself, do not make it smarter. Replace it with a custom shade instead.

Should you buy it?

Buy it when the tube and width are compatible and you want to keep the existing blind. Skip it when you cannot verify fit, cannot easily recharge the motor, or need a turnkey custom window covering.

Best for

  • Existing roller blinds with compatible tubes
  • Buyers who want Matter shades without replacing fabric
  • Rooms where scheduled shade movement is useful

Skip if

  • Your blind tube size or width is outside Eve's supported range
  • You want a finished custom shade rather than a retrofit project
  • The window is outside reliable Thread range
