SwitchBot Lock Vision Pro is the premium direct-Matter lock in this SwitchBot group. It keeps the no-SwitchBot-hub Matter path, then adds the richer access hardware that makes the Pro model more expensive.
The core buyer question is not whether it can appear in Matter. It is whether you need the extra unlock methods enough to keep SwitchBot's app involved after setup.
Setup path
Install, calibrate, and configure access in SwitchBot first. Add it to your main ecosystem through Matter over Wi-Fi only after the lock works reliably on the door.
Because Matter rides on Wi-Fi here, there is no Thread border router requirement. There is still a Matter controller requirement, and door-side Wi-Fi needs to be stable.
What Matter will not replace
Matter should cover ordinary lock control and status. It should not be treated as a full transport for SwitchBot's biometric setup, access logs, or all user-management details.
Buy it if you want SwitchBot's access hardware plus a direct Matter lock endpoint. Choose a simpler lock if your household only needs ecosystem lock and unlock.
