SwitchBot Lock Pro Matter Enabled

A useful motor for a lock worth keeping

Lock Pro Matter Enabled suits an apartment or house with a good existing cylinder and an exterior you want to preserve. It turns the lock from inside, adds remote access over Wi-Fi and leaves a compatible outside keyway in place. There is no extra SwitchBot bridge to place near the entrance.

The large round thumb turn is easy to identify among the otherwise plain controls. It also has a physical Quick Key button for locking or unlocking. The box around it is less discreet: at 120 × 59 × 83.9 mm, it projects considerably into the room. Check the space beside the handle and frame before assuming a retrofit will look unobtrusive.

This review covers the EU/UK Matter Enabled hardware. The older Lock Pro has a similar appearance but needs a suitable SwitchBot hub to expose its lock controls through Matter. A bundle containing that older lock and a Matter-enabled Hub Mini is not the same product.

Budget for the way people will actually enter

The basic package is an interior motor, mounting hardware, magnet and batteries. It has no outdoor keypad, fingerprint reader or face scanner. Remote app access can be enough for an occasional visitor, but reaching for a phone at every arrival may feel less convenient than using the key you already have.

The Touch Combo adds Keypad Touch for PIN, fingerprint and NFC-card entry. That is the package we would consider first for a family: regular users gain a phone-free option, and a visitor can use a code. The Vision Combo instead adds a separate face-recognition keypad. Its appeal is arriving with both hands occupied; the extra expense is harder to justify if fingerprints already suit everyone.

These accessories are additional devices to mount outside and maintain. The lock's advertised collection of unlocking methods should not be mistaken for hardware included in the cheapest box. NFC-card access is also not Apple home key.

The rechargeable batteries are a worthwhile advantage

This model includes two rechargeable lithium battery packs. One can be removed to charge while the other powers the lock. That is a useful arrangement for an entrance you cannot leave out of service while waiting for a battery to recharge.

The exact Matter Enabled manual specifies two 2,000 mAh packs. Some store specification tables still say four AA cells or describe rechargeables as optional; that conflicts with both the current product description and its model-specific manual. Check the exact package if a retailer repeats the older wording.

The included magnet lets SwitchBot distinguish the door's position from the motor's locked state and use that information for automatic locking. It is more useful than a timer alone at an entrance frequently left open while unloading shopping. We have not tested the sensing, motor noise or endurance, and do not treat the manufacturer's battery claims as measured results.

Keeping your cylinder has conditions

For a cylinder with an inside key, that key stays in place under the motor. The outside key must still work while the inside key is inserted. If your cylinder lacks that function, a replacement cylinder and potentially a locksmith bill become part of the purchase.

An interior knob may instead need removal and one of the supplied adapters. SwitchBot lists Euro-profile, UK oval, Swiss round and suitable knob cylinders, but clearance and the exact cylinder still decide fit. The motor also cannot lift a multipoint door handle for you. A door that needs manual lifting or pushing into alignment is a poor basis for unattended locking.

The Wi-Fi connection avoids a dedicated SwitchBot hub, but Matter still needs a suitable controller in your chosen ecosystem. SwitchBot's app remains useful for calibration, access settings and battery monitoring. Buy it for the everyday entry methods you want, rather than expecting every access setting to move into Apple Home or another Matter app.

Those are prices before promotional codes. The motor-only offers advertised €112.49 EU or £112.49 UK with code JZJZ25. Touch Combos advertised €159.99 EU or £159.99 UK with JZJZ20. Confirm the code at checkout. The EU motor and Touch pages also showed preorder notices estimating dispatch by the end of October. Treat that as an estimate, not immediate stock, and check the chosen bundle's delivery date. Eligible orders above €99 or £99 qualify for the regional store's free standard delivery; any cylinder work and ecosystem controller remain extra.

Aqara U200 includes its fingerprint keypad and adds Apple home key taps. Its EU price was €189.99, while the UK U200+ Kit was £188.99 on the check date. Compare the final discounted package totals; Aqara needs suitable Thread infrastructure for Matter, while this SwitchBot uses Wi-Fi.

Nuki Go is another retrofit to consider if replaceable AA batteries and the Nuki app suit you, though its keypad and paid remote-access option can raise the total. If an installed SwitchBot lock already works well with a hub and keypad, keep it. Removing the bridge from that arrangement is a modest benefit compared with replacing a working entrance system.
