Aqara Smart Lock U200

Aqara Smart Lock U200 is the direct Matter Aqara lock for buyers who want a retrofit design rather than a full deadbolt replacement. Buy it only after confirming the lock fit and the Thread hardware you will use for Matter.

The retrofit Aqara Matter lock

The Aqara Smart Lock U200 is the retrofit member of Aqara's direct Matter lock lineup. It sits over compatible existing lock hardware, which can be less invasive than replacing the whole lock.

Its direct Matter path is Thread. That means you need a Matter controller and a Thread border router before the lock can be useful in Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa, SmartThings, or Home Assistant.

Fit matters first

Do not buy any retrofit lock on protocol support alone. Check the door, cylinder, thumb turn, deadbolt movement, and exterior hardware before you assume the U200 will work.

Once the fit is clear, the U200 gives you a broad access mix: Matter lock control, keypad entry, fingerprint access, NFC, and Apple Home Key support.

What Matter may not cover

Matter should give your ecosystem lock control, but locks have more sensitive feature gaps than lights or sensors. User codes, access logs, guest management, and detailed security settings can differ by platform.

Set up the lock fully in Aqara Home, test Matter control in your main app, and keep a reliable backup entry method.

Best for

  • Renters or owners who want to keep exterior lock hardware
  • Apple Home Key buyers who also want Matter over Thread
  • Doors where retrofit installation is easier than a full lock swap

Skip if

  • Your existing lock hardware is not compatible
  • You need every keypad, user, and event-log feature in every Matter app
  • You do not have a Thread border router near the entry
