Nuki Smart Lock Go

Good value while you keep it simple

Smart Lock Go is appealing because it can remove the daily key routine without making you buy Nuki's premium hardware. It turns a compatible existing cylinder from inside the door, leaving the exterior keyhole and physical keys in use. The app provides access sharing, locking schedules and Auto Unlock; a separately purchased keypad can give the household an alternative to phones.

Its older shape is the compromise you see every day. At 110 × 60 × 60 mm, the white body hangs below the keyhole, with the battery compartment forming a substantial lower block. It has one motor speed, while Pro and Ultra offer a choice of faster or gentler operation.

We have not measured the noise, unlock speed or reliability. Go's case for purchase is its price and replaceable power supply, not a claim that it performs like the newer brushless models.

The €49 fee does not unlock Matter

Go was €149 in Nuki's euro store and £139 in its UK store on September 10, 2026. Four AA batteries are included. The optional Nuki Remote Access activation costs €49 in the euro store, as a one-time purchase.

That charge buys remote administration in Nuki: changing settings, checking its activity log and granting access permissions while away. It also enables the built-in Wi-Fi connection. Without it, those Nuki functions work when you are nearby over Bluetooth.

Matter integration does not require that purchase. With a suitable Matter controller and Thread border router, you can lock and unlock through your chosen smart-home platform, including remotely where that platform supports it. Someone who only wants Apple Home or another platform's remote lock button should not pay €49 under the impression that Go's Matter radio is locked away.

The distinction matters less if you regularly manage guest access in Nuki. In that case, price the upgrade into the purchase from the start.

Ordinary batteries are a real advantage

The supplied AAs can be swapped rather than leaving the lock attached to a charging cable. Nuki also supports suitable rechargeable AA cells, so its €49 Power Pack is an option rather than the only rechargeable route.

Choose the Power Pack if charging it inside the lock or removing it for charging suits you. Keep ordinary replaceable cells if quick swaps and long-term battery replaceability matter more. Pro and Ultra have built-in batteries that Nuki directs owners to its support team to service.

Buying both the €49 Power Pack and €49 Remote Access takes Go to €247, before any keypad or door work. The Pro was €269 with rechargeable power and remote access included. At that point, €22 is a small saving for accepting Go's larger body and single-speed motor. With existing rechargeable AAs and free Matter control, the original €120 saving remains much more persuasive.

A quick trip outside can defeat the clever part

Nuki's phone-based Auto Unlock uses location and Bluetooth. It rearms after you leave and re-enter a home geofence of at least 100 metres, then reconnect near the lock. Stepping into the garden or putting the bins out may not leave that zone, so do not expect a fresh hands-free unlock on every return to the door.

Location permissions and the phone's background behaviour also matter. A keypad provides a deliberate way in without depending on that routine. The €209 Home Set Basic includes the original code-only Keypad; fingerprints and wallet taps require different accessories.

The €179 Keypad 2 NFC can add supported wallet entry, with a qualifying phone and ecosystem hub for Apple home key or Samsung Digital Home Key. The lock alone has no exterior NFC reader.

Keep the cylinder only if it is suitable

Go supports suitable key cylinders and selected interior knob cylinders. An inserted inside key must not prevent the outside key operating the lock; Nuki calls the required cylinder feature an emergency function. Mounting clearance matters too: an inward-opening door needs more than 30 mm from the keyhole centre to both handle and frame.

A cylinder motor cannot lift a multipoint door handle or correct a binding door. Price any cylinder replacement or mechanical repair before calling this a cheap retrofit.

For a compatible European door where fingerprints are the main attraction, Aqara U200 was €189.99 with its keypad included. Go is easier to justify for app-led access or an existing Nuki accessory collection. Keep a working smart lock if it already handles those jobs well.
