Nuki Smart Lock Pro (5th Gen)

Nuki Smart Lock Pro (5th Gen) is the safer current Nuki pick when you want direct Matter over Thread but do not need the smaller Ultra hardware. The door fit and Thread coverage still decide whether it is a good buy.

The current mainstream Nuki Matter lock

Smart Lock Pro (5th Gen) sits in the useful middle of Nuki's direct-Matter lineup. It is more capable than the entry Go model and less expensive than the Ultra, while still using Matter over Thread for smart-home integration.

That makes it the current Nuki model most buyers should compare first, as long as the door is in Nuki's European retrofit fit path.

Start with the lock, then the ecosystem

The Pro is still a retrofit smart lock, so cylinder fit, door movement, and installation clearance matter more than the Matter logo. Set it up and calibrate it in the Nuki app, then add it to Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa, SmartThings, or Home Assistant through Matter over Thread.

The Thread requirement is real. If you do not already have a Thread border router near the entrance, budget for that before deciding this is cheaper than another lock.

Where Pro makes more sense than Ultra

Choose Pro when you want Nuki's current platform and accessory options but do not need Ultra's smaller lock body or cylinder-included setup. Choose Ultra when the premium hardware is the point. Choose Go when price matters more than Pro features.

Best for

  • European retrofit lock buyers who want current Nuki hardware below Ultra pricing
  • Homes using Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa, SmartThings, or Home Assistant through Matter
  • Buyers who want keypad options but still expect Nuki to handle detailed lock setup

Skip if

  • Your existing cylinder or door movement is not compatible
  • You want the smallest Nuki lock body
  • You need a North American deadbolt retrofit
