The smaller body is what you are paying for

The fifth-generation Pro replaces Nuki's hanging battery box with a round stainless-steel body. At 57 mm across and 70 mm deep, it is a much neater object to have on the inside of a front door. Both black and white base rings are included, so the finish does not require choosing a separate lock variant.

Unlike the Euro-profile Ultra, Pro fits over a suitable existing key. That preserves a good cylinder and avoids handing out new physical keys. It is the stronger reason to pick Pro than its position in Nuki's range.

The brushless motor offers three modes: Insane for speed, Standard and Gentle for slower operation with reduced noise. A gentler late-night lock action can be more useful than the fastest setting. We have not measured either speed or sound, so Nuki's performance comparisons should not be read as our test results.

A compatible key is a surprisingly tight requirement

Pro's housing takes an inserted key no thicker than 4 mm and protruding no more than 37 mm. It is the key-over-cylinder version, not Go's wider selection of knob-cylinder fittings. The cylinder must also allow an outside key to operate while the inside key is inserted.

A bulky key head, restricted door-handle clearance or unsuitable cylinder can turn a simple motor purchase into extra hardware work. Nuki specifies more than 30 mm clearance from the keyhole centre to handle and frame on inward-opening doors; outward-opening doors need more frame clearance.

If the cylinder must change anyway, compare the Ultra, which includes its matching Euro-profile cylinder. Pro makes most sense when preserving the existing cylinder is an actual benefit.

Rechargeable is convenient; sealed is less appealing

Nuki includes a two-metre USB-C-to-magnetic cable. The lock can charge while mounted and continue operating, or the whole motor can come off the door to charge. A suitable USB power supply is still needed; Nuki specifies at least 10 W.

The proprietary magnetic end means an ordinary USB-C cable alone will not charge it. More significantly, the battery is built in. Nuki's battery instructions direct owners to support for battery problems rather than treating it as a replaceable consumable. That is a long-term ownership drawback compared with Go's AAs or removable Power Pack.

There is also a useful qualification to the endurance figures. Nuki's current charging guidance gives 5–7 months for remote access over Thread and 4–6 months over Wi-Fi, with usage and door resistance affecting the result. Those estimates assume a 100% charge, while the default charge limit is 80%. They are manufacturer estimates, not measured endurance from us.

Fingerprints and wallet taps cost extra

On September 10, 2026, Pro was €269 in the euro store and £229 in the UK store. Nuki Remote Access is included, so built-in Wi-Fi can provide remote Nuki control without a separate bridge or Thread hub. Matter is a separate route requiring a suitable controller and Thread border router.

There is no outdoor keypad or fingerprint reader in that price. Nuki listed the Home Set Pro with Keypad 2 at €379, and the set with Keypad 2 NFC at €399, before any temporary checkout promotion. The NFC accessory supports eligible wallet keys when the lock, phone and ecosystem hub meet the requirements.

A phone can instead use Nuki's Auto Unlock, but that uses location and Bluetooth. A brief trip outside without leaving the home geofence does not rearm it. Buy a keypad because its deliberate entry method solves that problem for your household, rather than assuming the bare Pro provides the same experience.

Spend the premium on a problem you actually have

The Go was €120 cheaper. It is the better value if replaceable AAs, the larger body and its single motor speed are acceptable, especially when an existing Matter setup already gives you the remote control you need.

Go with Nuki Remote Access and the Power Pack reaches €247, only €22 below Pro. For that particular basket, Pro's smaller form and motor choices are compelling. Ultra costs another €80 but is only 12 mm shorter and uses the same brushless approach; choose it for the included cylinder, not an assumed extra generation of intelligence.

Owners of a working fourth-generation Matter-capable Nuki should also compare the accessory they actually want before replacing the motor. Keypad 2 NFC supports that generation too. Keeping a reliable lock can be the best-value upgrade path.
