Buy the cylinder package for a reason

Ultra Swiss combines Nuki's compact motor with a new Swiss round-profile Universal Cylinder. It replaces the existing cylinder and introduces new physical keys. That makes it useful when the old cylinder needs changing, but less attractive when preserving the current key arrangement is important.

An apartment key that also opens other doors deserves particular thought. Replacing the front-door cylinder does not recreate the old shared-key arrangement. The new lock may be more convenient electronically while leaving you with another physical key to carry.

This is the Swiss round-profile package, variant 221149. The visually similar Euro-profile Ultra includes different cylinder hardware. Selecting the right profile matters more than choosing a black or white trim ring.

Pro is the comparison that matters

On September 10, 2026, Nuki's Swiss store priced Ultra's Swiss variant at CHF 349. It also listed Swiss-compatible versions of fifth-generation Pro at CHF 269 and Go at CHF 149. Select the Swiss fitting option for either alternative; a generic product name is not enough.

Pro retains a suitable existing cylinder. Its motor is 57 mm across and 70 mm deep, compared with Ultra's 57 × 58 mm body. Ultra saves 12 mm in depth for CHF 80 more, with the replacement cylinder as the major package difference.

Both use Nuki's brushless motor and offer three operating modes: Insane, Standard and Gentle. Choosing a slower, gentler action for late arrivals can be more useful than the fastest setting. Ultra does not provide an extra generation of smart-home features merely because it is the more expensive choice.

Go saves CHF 200 against Ultra and uses replaceable batteries, but retains the large lower battery compartment and one motor speed. It makes more sense when low cost and battery swaps matter more than compactness. Remote Nuki administration and the optional Power Pack can add to its price.

A small motor can still need extra door work

Ultra's cylinder is adjustable, but it does not fit every door thickness or fitting. Nuki's current guide limits the distance from the retaining screw to the inside door plate to 68 mm and to the outside plate to 55 mm, excluding cylinder overhang. Extensions are offered for greater outside lengths.

These are door-plate measurements, not a reason to order a cylinder from an approximate photograph. There also needs to be clearance around the motor: inward-opening doors require more than 30 mm to both handle and frame, and outward-opening doors need more space at the frame.

Include any extension, cylinder work or fitting help in the comparison. Ultra is a stronger purchase when that work is already needed than when it creates a job a simpler retrofit could avoid.

Attractive hardware with a fixed battery

The stainless-steel body includes both black and white base rings. Losing the battery box below older Nuki locks makes the inside of the door look cleaner, without requiring a separate colour purchase.

Power comes from a built-in rechargeable battery. The supplied two-metre magnetic charging cable allows charging on the door, or the motor can be removed. Nuki's roughly two-hour charging claim is a manufacturer figure, not a result we measured.

The battery cannot be swapped like Go's AAs or removable Power Pack. Nuki directs built-in battery servicing to its support team. Its current charging guidance also uses an 80% default charge cap; the longer battery-life estimates assume charging to 100%. Compactness brings a different maintenance arrangement, not freedom from battery care.

Budget separately for the way in

The CHF 349 price includes the motor and cylinder, not an outdoor keypad. Fingerprints, PINs and supported wallet taps come from separate accessories. Compare the appropriate Swiss bundle if those are the reason for buying, and allow for delivery and any missing ecosystem hub.

Keypad 2 NFC can provide eligible Apple or Samsung wallet entry, but also works with Matter-capable fourth-generation Nuki locks. An existing owner may only need the accessory. Replacing the motor is unnecessary if the current lock already performs well and easier entry is the sole goal.

Built-in Wi-Fi gives Ultra remote Nuki access without a bridge or Thread hub. Matter control uses a suitable controller and Thread border router. Choose this package for its combination of small size and a needed Swiss cylinder replacement; choose Pro or keep the existing lock when preserving sound hardware offers better value.
