SwitchBot Relay Switch 2PM

Two useful outputs in one small body

Relay Switch 2PM is most appealing where two lighting circuits already meet behind the same wall control. It keeps two outputs and their switch inputs inside a 42 × 36 × 16 mm module, the same quoted size as SwitchBot's single-channel models. You gain another controlled circuit without fitting a second relay body into an already crowded box.

It can also serve a different job: one compatible bidirectional AC shutter motor using its roller-blind mode. That uses the paired outputs for one motor, rather than leaving a spare channel for another appliance. The choice should follow the actual circuit, not the larger number in the name.

Two channels do not double the electrical capacity

The manual limits each channel to 10 A and the pair to 16 A combined. It also requires the same power supply for the module and both load circuits. These are powered outputs, not independent dry contacts for unrelated control inputs.

Those details matter more than the generic 16 A figure in the store's specification table. A project with two heavy loads, separate supplies or an isolated trigger requirement is not solved simply by buying this dual model. An electrician needs to assess the load, existing controls, neutral and enclosed mounting space.

The manual distinguishes supported bidirectional AC motors from DC power for relay operation. A DC supply option does not turn the 2PM into a universal DC blind-motor controller. Its switching functions also do not provide light dimming.

Metering is useful; the history promise is unclear

In AC circuit use, the two loads can be measured individually. That makes the 2PM interesting when you want to compare consumption across two lighting circuits or see which connected load is actually drawing power. DC operation does not include that measurement.

SwitchBot describes consumption graphs in its app, but the current product page promises two years of cached data in the description and one year in the detailed specification. We would not buy it specifically for two years of history until that inconsistency is resolved. Nor have we measured its meter accuracy or verified that another Matter platform receives the same graphs.

Home Assistant's SwitchBot Bluetooth integration offers independent control of the two channels plus power, voltage, current and consumption readings. That is a useful alternative when the meter should feed a broader home dashboard. It requires working Bluetooth within range and the device's encryption credentials, entered directly or imported from a SwitchBot account; it does not transfer SwitchBot's historical graphs through Matter.

For ordinary control, Matter runs over 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi without an extra SwitchBot hub or Thread border router. The receiving ecosystem needs a Matter controller. SwitchBot documents its own roller-blind mode, but the store's Matter description still describes a switch; a particular platform's position and slat controls should not be assumed from the roller-blind feature alone.

The built-in gateway for supported SwitchBot Bluetooth accessories is another reason to choose it over a generic relay. It can serve up to ten BLE devices and is listed as a Matter bridge, though accessory sharing has its own limits and supported functions. SwitchBot also lets you choose an off state after power returns, useful when an automatic restart would be unwelcome.

Good value when both channels have a job

For one ordinary circuit, Relay Switch 1PM is cheaper and allows a higher individual-channel maximum, subject to load suitability. For local browser controls, scripting and a documented covering profile, compare Shelly 2PM Gen3.

Buy SwitchBot 2PM when its two channels, compact installation and existing SwitchBot accessories form a useful combination. Keep working relays or a satisfactory shutter controller if the only gain would be moving the same controls into another app.
