A simple strip with a useful remote

SwitchBot LED Strip Light 3 is for a warm glow behind a desk, a single color under a shelf, or white light along a cabinet. Its five-metre kit includes the power supply, wired controller and a handheld remote, so changing the light need not start with unlocking a phone.

There is a crucial naming distinction: this is not an RGBIC strip. It shows one color at a time across the run, without separately colored segments. It does have dedicated warm and cool white LEDs, spanning 2700K to 6500K. The more expensive RGBICWW strip is an effects upgrade, not the first model in the range to offer tunable white.

The cheaper model has a narrow price advantage

The US kit was available at $44.99 on September 10, 2026, with an advertised $31.49 price using JZJZ30. Standard delivery adds $9.99 to eligible US orders below $99, taking one discounted kit to $41.48 before tax. Those figures are for the US plug offer; EU and UK versions are also listed separately.

The RGBICWW Strip Light was $32.49 with its own code at that check. For just $1 more, simultaneous colors and gradients are an easy upgrade to justify if you want them. Even the base-price gap is only $5.

Strip Light 3 still has a reason to exist: its English manual lists a handheld remote in the box, whereas the RGBICWW kit lists only a wired controller. For a bedroom where a remote belongs on the bedside table, that can matter more than animated colors. For a colorful gaming setup, buy the RGBICWW version. If a Strip Light 3 is already installed and doing its job, there is no need to replace it for the same white-light range and claimed maximum brightness.

Five metres does not mean several separate kits

The strip is 12 mm wide, with adhesive backing and six screw clips included. Its best application is a concealed indoor run where the furniture hides the individual LEDs. If the strip itself will be visible, allow for a suitable diffuser or choose a fixture designed to be seen; the kit is not a finished architectural light channel.

SwitchBot specifies cut points every 8 cm. Shortening a run is possible, but the manual says the removed section will not work. Do not budget on turning one coil into independently powered strips for several shelves. Corners, the outlet position and the length left after cutting matter more than the number of app scenes.

The store's IP44 claim does not make it outdoor lighting. The manual limits it to indoor use and distinguishes the splash-resistant surface from the unprotected circuitry underneath. Choose a purpose-built wet-location product for an exposed outdoor run.

Ordinary light controls are the point

SwitchBot rates the entire five-metre kit at up to 1,200 lumens with an 18 W supply. That is not 1,200 lumens per metre or an independently measured guarantee of worktop lighting.

Matter covers power, brightness, RGB color and white temperature over 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. A compatible controller in your home platform is required, but a SwitchBot hub is not. SwitchBot's app provides its own scenes and firmware updates; no app can add the segmented hardware this model lacks.

Choose this kit for simple accent light and the included remote. If attaching a strip to the furniture is the bigger objection, the Floor Lamp provides movable ambient light without the adhesive run.
