The Lucca that stays out of the view

At 40 cm tall, this pedestal is the quieter choice in Lucca's floor-standing range. Its glowing top can mark the edge of a patio or a low planting bed without making the garden feel lined with tall posts. The anthracite cylinder and horizontal bands also match the Lucca wall light if you want a consistent appearance around a small outdoor space.

The height is useful only if the diffuser remains visible. A bed of low plants is a better setting than dense shrubs that will grow around it. Consider the garden in summer, not just the empty border where the first light will be installed. A hidden decorative light is an expensive way to illuminate the back of a leaf.

In Germany it was €134.99 before the separately advertised Glow-Up promotion, with free delivery. The fixtures are only one part of the budget.

Low height does not mean a smaller bulb

The pedestal includes the same stated 1,100-lumen A60 E27 color bulb as the 77 cm Lucca post. Moving up to the taller fixture does not buy a brighter light source. It changes where the glowing head sits and how prominent the fitting looks during the day.

Use the lower version when light near the path and a modest silhouette suit the space. A taller post can clear planting that would hide this one, but its diffuser is also more conspicuous. We have not measured ground illumination or glare, so neither height supplies a universal spacing rule for an entire path.

The broad diffuser gives Lucca the character of a lantern rather than a tightly directed path marker. You may prefer a dim warm white for everyday use and reserve color for a patio gathering. The value comes from enjoying those choices, not from leaving a line of bulbs at maximum brightness.

The installation is less casual than the size suggests

This is a fixed 220–240V mains light, not a solar stake or a fitting you connect to a low-voltage garden cable. Its 142 mm footprint needs a suitable secure base, and the cable route needs planning around the finished path or border. The IP44 housing tolerates splashes; standing water and pressure washing are different conditions.

That makes Lucca more attractive when suitable power is already present or landscaping work is underway. Retrofitting a long line solely to gain occasional colored light is a harder case. A garden that changes often may suit Hue's Low-volt collection better: compatible lights connect to a separate power supply at an outlet, with cable routing and the supply's capacity still part of the plan.

The Hue Bridge route also needs radio coverage at the actual position. Check it before repeating the installation along a path. The product's Matter compatibility does not eliminate the Bridge in the documented fixture setup, and a richer Hue scene remains a Hue feature rather than a universal effect shared by every smart-home app.

Choose height before buying a matching set

The 77 cm Lucca post was €164.99 in Germany, €30 above the pedestal's listed price before promotions. It is worth that difference when the higher light clears planting or marks an entrance more effectively. It is unnecessary bulk beside a low patio edge where this smaller version already fits.

Both have a replaceable E27 light source, which is a welcome maintenance choice compared with treating a failed bulb as a failed fixture. If you own older Lucca housings in good condition, assess a suitable bulb replacement before buying new pedestals; respect the fitting's dimensions and electrical rating.

Buy the 40 cm version for its proportion and the location you have planned. Keep working path lights if they already guide you comfortably. The strongest reason to add Lucca is a garden area you use and want to shape with light, not simply the opportunity to extend a matching product family.
