The four-pack costs too much next to Tapo
MSS315 combines a useful energy meter with ordinary smart-outlet control, but its current US four-pack is hard to recommend. The listed $52.99 works out to about $13.25 per plug. A Tapo P110M four-pack is $35.99, about $9 each, before shipping and tax. Meross's app needs to be worth that $17 hardware premium to you.
An existing Meross household has the clearest reason to stay. Keeping consumption checks alongside familiar Meross devices can be convenient, and replacing a plug that already does its job offers little benefit. That is a reason to keep an MSS315, though, rather than buy four more at this price. If you only need one lamp switched, the pack also commits money to three outlets you may never use.
Useful measurement, uncertain sharing
Meross advertises live consumption readings and historical energy data in its app. For a suitable desk setup, that gives you a way to compare active and idle use before deciding whether an off schedule is worthwhile. Measurement provides information; it does not establish savings or the meter's accuracy. Matterhome has not tested this plug.
The Meross app is the confirmed advertised energy view. Exact US firmware support for exposing those readings in other apps remains unconfirmed, so we would skip this pack if that is the purpose of the purchase. Tapo's updated US P110M has documented Matter energy reporting in Home Assistant and SmartThings, which gives it a stronger case for that job as well as a lower hardware price.
Keep the purchase within its limits
MSS315 uses 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and needs an IPv6-capable network for Matter. It does not require a Meross bridge or Thread border router, although your chosen smart-home platform still needs its Matter controller. Basic on/off control can be shared between platforms; that does not make the energy history identical in each app.
This review covers the US 120 V, 60 Hz model with a maximum 15 A load, for dry indoor use within its 0 to 40°C operating range. It is a poor choice for damp locations or an unheated garage. Buy the socket version suited to your home: the European MSS315 is separate hardware.
