Quiet switching is the most persuasive feature

Eve Thermostat's best feature may be one you never see. On a compatible low-power underfloor-heating circuit, its Triac output switches without the click of a mechanical relay. That is a practical attraction for a bedroom or quiet living room, and a more concrete reason to replace a thermostat than another app icon.

The benefit depends on the installation. Eve also has a relay output for other supported loads, and that relay still clicks. Do not pay for silent operation without confirming that the system can use the Triac connection.

The white 95 mm square face has a large temperature display and touch controls. Eve's app lets you adjust brightness, choose an always-on display or a timeout, and assign a button to operating modes or temperature presets. A separate Eco button makes a lower-temperature setting easy to reach without opening an app. These are useful daily controls, especially in a room shared by people who do not all use the same phone.

It follows a schedule; it does not learn the room

Underfloor heating responds slowly. Eve Thermostat does not learn how quickly your room warms up or cools down, so you have to allow for that delay in the schedule. Setting a warmer target at the moment you want comfort is not the same as having the room ready at that time.

Schedules are stored on the thermostat and run without the phone or internet connection. Create them in Eve's app through Apple Home on iPhone/iPad or Google Home on Android. The app is also needed to configure the full set of presets and controls. There is no Eve account or subscription, but there is still some planning to do.

Another disappointment is the lack of support for Thermo Control. You cannot add Eve's portable sensor to move the measurement point away from the wall. A configurable temperature offset is available, but it is a different solution from an external room sensor.

Worth about €120 only if these controls help

This is the European model for water-based underfloor heating with compatible 230 V actuators and a neutral wire. Specialist installation is required. The Triac output is limited to 65 mA/15 W; the relay has separate higher ratings. It is not an electric-floor heating controller or a general boiler thermostat. A Matter controller and Thread border router are also required.

The roughly €120 hardware cost is per control point, with installation extra. Tado Wired Smart Thermostat X is worth comparing at its checked €89.99 offer before shipping if its heating connections fit. It uses replaceable AAA batteries and also stores schedules locally. Tado's additional adaptive-heating features require its paid AI Assist service.

Choose Eve when quiet Triac switching, the physical presets and account-free operation solve a real irritation. Keep a satisfactory existing controller if the only expected benefit is automatic optimization: Eve leaves the timing decisions with you.
