A companion, not a standalone thermostat
Eve Thermo Control is easy to misunderstand. It is a temperature and humidity sensor with a display, but its main purpose is to tell Eve Thermo what the room feels like away from the radiator. That can make a real difference in rooms where the radiator valve sits in a hot corner or behind furniture.
The useful control path is narrow. Eve says Thermo Control works with Eve Thermo and that control through Alexa, Google Home, or SmartThings is not currently available.
Setup path
Start with the radiator valve. You need Eve Thermo fourth generation upgraded to Matter or Eve Thermo fifth generation. Eve also lists iOS or iPadOS 17.6 or newer and an Apple home hub with Thread for Thermo Control setup.
Assignment happens in the Eve app. Connected Matter platforms can see temperature and humidity values, but seeing a sensor value is not the same as using the device as the room controller for Eve Thermo.
Where it helps
It helps when the radiator's built-in reading is wrong for the room. Put the controller near the sofa, desk, crib, or bed, and Eve Thermo can heat toward that spot instead of the valve body.
It also gives you local touch control and an e-ink display, which is useful in rooms where reaching for a phone to adjust heat feels silly.
Should you buy it?
Buy it if you already use Eve Thermo and want more accurate room comfort in Apple Home and the Eve app. Skip it as a general Matter sensor, as a controller for other thermostats, or as an Alexa-first heating accessory.
Best for
- Eve Thermo owners who want room-temperature control away from the radiator
- Apple Home households using Eve Thermo
- Rooms where the radiator's built-in temperature reading is misleading
Skip if
- You do not own a compatible Eve Thermo
- You want Alexa, Google Home, or SmartThings to use it as the main Thermo controller
- You need a sensor for another brand's thermostat or underfloor heating
