Smart Lock Ultra Nordics is not just a color or bundle variant. It exists because Nordic oval and round cylinders need a different fit path from Euro profile doors. That is the buyer decision to settle first.
Once the hardware fit is clear, the lock behaves like the rest of Nuki's direct-Matter family: installation starts in the Nuki app, ecosystem control runs over Matter and Thread, and keypad accessories stay in Nuki's lock-accessory world.
Thread is required, not optional
Matter over Thread is a good network choice for a battery lock, but it is not self-contained. You need a Matter controller and Thread border router with reliable reach at the door. A living-room hub that works for bulbs may not be enough for a front entrance.
Nuki's app still matters for calibration, firmware, remote access choices, and accessory setup. Matter is the shared control layer, not a replacement for every lock-specific setting.
Who should skip it
Skip this model if you are shopping for a Euro profile, Swiss round profile, or North American deadbolt door. The regional hardware fit is the point, and buying the wrong Nuki variant is more painful than choosing the wrong plug or bulb.
