The existing cylinder is worth keeping

Ultra Nordics is Nuki's compact motor for compatible Scandinavian deadbolt cylinders. It replaces the interior operating hardware while retaining the cylinder and exterior keyhole. That can make it appealing when the existing lock is sound, the household already has keys, and replacing the whole door lock would add unnecessary work.

The stainless-steel body is 57 mm across and comes with a black base ring. It looks much less bulky than an older Nuki with a battery compartment hanging below the turn. The brushless motor is the same general approach used by Nuki's newer compact locks.

Unlike the Euro-profile and Swiss Ultra packages, this version does not include a replacement Universal Cylinder. That is a practical difference in what you are buying, not a missing accessory you should order automatically. Nuki says the Nordic version is generally incompatible with its Universal Cylinder.

“Nordics” does not cover every Nordic door

Nuki specifies typical Scandinavian oval and round cylinders with an interior key or thumb turn and a deadbolt. Finnish-type cylinders are explicitly excluded. A latch-only door is also outside the fit requirements.

Those exclusions matter more than the country printed on a delivery address. Buying this model because the home is in Scandinavia is not enough to establish a fit.

There must also be room around the motor. Nuki's guide calls for more than 30 mm from the deadbolt centre to the handle and frame on an inward-opening door. An outward-opening door needs more than 40 mm to the frame and more than 30 mm to the handle. A narrow frame can rule it out even when the cylinder family is correct.

The motor retains the mechanism it turns. It should be fitted to a door that already locks smoothly; it does not replace worn lock hardware or correct door alignment.

The keypad changes the price and the appeal

On September 10, 2026, Nuki's regional stores listed the lock at SEK 3,499, NOK 3,699 and DKK 2,299. Its euro store listed €349. Those are motor-only prices: there is no outdoor fingerprint reader or PIN keypad in the basic purchase.

Adding the €179 Keypad 2 NFC to the euro-store lock reaches €528 before delivery or any hub needed for wallet entry. Compare regional bundles before buying the two separately. Nuki also warns that Norwegian shipments may attract import taxes or customs charges outside the displayed order price.

The accessory can be worth buying when it makes entry easier for the people using the door. Fingerprints and codes avoid requiring every family member or visitor to carry a phone. Supported Apple or Samsung wallet entry adds a tap, but its device and hub requirements are narrower than simply owning an NFC phone.

Phone-based Auto Unlock is included, but it rearms after leaving and re-entering the home geofence. A quick trip to the garden may not trigger it again. Someone who mainly wants dependable, deliberate entry after short outings should include a keypad in the budget from the start.

Convenient charging, less convenient battery replacement

The built-in lithium-polymer battery charges through Nuki's magnetic connector, with the motor either mounted or removed. Nuki quotes about two hours for a full charge. That is easier than regularly replacing disposable cells, but requires keeping the matching cable available.

The battery is not an owner-swappable Power Pack. Nuki's battery instructions direct owners to support for servicing built-in batteries. That is the ownership tradeoff behind the smaller body.

At launch, Nuki advertised up to twelve months over Thread or Bluetooth and six over Wi-Fi. Those are manufacturer upper estimates, not measured endurance from us; use, door resistance and charging settings affect the result. We have not tested its motor noise, speed or battery life.

Spend on the daily improvement

Built-in Wi-Fi provides remote Nuki access without a separate bridge or Thread hub. Matter is another route, requiring suitable controller and Thread hardware. You do not have to buy a Thread hub simply to check or operate the lock remotely in Nuki.

Choose Ultra Nordics when keeping the cylinder, reducing interior bulk and adding shared access justify the complete cost. Keep an existing smart lock if it already handles those jobs well. A Euro-profile Ultra, Go or Pro is not an automatic substitute for this Nordic fitting just because it appears elsewhere in Nuki's catalog.
