What we like
- Three GU10 spotlights gain color control without adding Thread hardware
- Nanoleaf app adds grouped scenes and custom color palettes
- A four-pack costs only €5 more if another fitting needs a bulb
What could be better
- Three IKEA color GU10s cost less when Thread is already available
- Rated warm-white output falls to 300 lumens
- Traditional wall dimmers are incompatible, and switching off power disables connected control
Three spots without another radio network
Nanoleaf's Wi-Fi GU10 pack makes sense for a three-head ceiling fitting or a short track aimed at shelves and artwork. It adds individual color and brightness control through an existing 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network, with no Thread border router to buy. A compatible Matter controller is still required for your smart home platform; the Nanoleaf app also provides its own control route.
The European three-pack reviewed here is N7502B02-3GU10. It is a different purchase from the older Nanoleaf GU10 Thread bulbs, despite sharing a product page and a similar appearance. The €25 pack is reasonable for exactly three useful positions. If four fittings need bulbs, the same store's €30 four-pack is better value than buying the three-pack and adding a single later. Prices were checked on October 6, 2026, before delivery.
Treat these as accent lights first
Nanoleaf rates each bulb at 400 lumens at 4000 K, falling to 300 lumens at the warmer 2700 K setting, with a stated tolerance of ten percent. That drop matters if the same spots illuminate a kitchen worktop during the day and provide warm evening light. Saturated colors should not be expected to match the white-light output.
The 60-degree beam spreads light more widely than a narrow spotlight. Each bulb measures 50 mm across and 58 mm tall, so check the fixture's retaining ring and clearance as well as its GU10 twist-lock fitting. These are indoor bulbs, and they cannot work with a conventional wall dimmer. Connected controls also stop responding when someone cuts power at the switch.
Nanoleaf's grouped scenes and custom palettes are useful when several spots illuminate one wall. Those extras live in the Nanoleaf app; basic Matter control does not make every scene available in Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa or SmartThings. Matterhome has not tested the beam, dimming, color quality or connection reliability.
IKEA is the stronger starting point with Thread
The German IKEA KAJPLATS color GU10, article 106.085.78 costs €7.99 per bulb on the same date. Three total €23.97 before delivery. Its rated 470-lumen output at 2700 K is higher than Nanoleaf's warm-white rating, although its narrower 46-degree beam will put that light in a different pattern.
For a room already served by Thread, IKEA has the more convincing price and brightness combination on paper. Nanoleaf earns its place when Wi-Fi avoids an infrastructure purchase or its app effects are part of an existing lighting arrangement. Neither is a worthwhile replacement for good ordinary spotlights if the household only wants to switch the whole fitting on and off.
