Nanoleaf's iOS app targets Matter Thread performance

Nanoleaf 11.10.0 for iPhone and iPad targets Matter Essentials over Thread performance, but the company does not say which task or models changed.

If you manage Nanoleaf's Matter-over-Thread Essentials from an iPhone or iPad, install Nanoleaf 11.10.0 before resorting to another light reset. Apple's US App Store lists the update as released on August 17, 2026, with one specific change: improved performance for Matter Essentials over Thread. Nanoleaf also lists minor bug fixes.

That wording is useful, but narrow. This is an app update, not documented device firmware. Nanoleaf does not say whether the improvement affects pairing, discovery, direct control, firmware transfers, or general responsiveness. It also does not identify exact Essentials models, minimum firmware, or countries. Matterhome verified the US listing and has not tested the update.

Nanoleaf's own 2026 app release notes still say they were last updated on July 8 and list iOS 11.9.7, so the App Store currently carries the newer first-party detail. Android users should not assume they received the same Thread-specific change. Google Play says the Android app was updated on August 18, but its current notes mention only minor bug fixes.

The distinction matters because reports of newer Essentials device firmware are also circulating. Nanoleaf's official product firmware page still lists Matter-over-Thread bulbs at version 4.1.3, last updated on September 26, 2025, and the Sense+ Switch at 4.1.14, dated February 3, 2026. Version 11.10.0 therefore does not confirm a new bulb firmware rollout, a Matter specification upgrade, or a Thread version change.

Update the Nanoleaf app, note the firmware shown for one affected light, and test discovery and ordinary control before changing the rest of the setup. If a light still drops offline, do not read this short release note as evidence that the device, border router, or Apple Home fabric is at fault. Save those resets for after Nanoleaf publishes a more exact compatibility note or support identifies the failing layer.
