A better room reading for Tado X
Wireless Temperature Sensor X solves a specific heating problem: the radiator is often a poor place to measure room comfort. A valve can sit behind curtains, under a windowsill, or next to a hot pipe. The room can feel different from the number the radiator valve sees.
Put the sensor where comfort actually matters, then use it with Tado X radiator thermostats or the wireless thermostat setup. That is the reason to buy it.
Matter is not the whole job
Tado lists the X line as Matter and Thread compatible, and the sensor uses the same Tado X infrastructure as the rest of the range. For Matterhome readers, that means a Matter controller and a Thread border router need to be part of the plan.
The more important behavior still lives in Tado. Assigning the sensor to a room, using it to steer radiator valves, and managing schedules are Tado setup tasks.
Where it helps
It helps in living rooms, bedrooms, and home offices where the radiator valve is hidden or exposed to drafts. It also makes sense when several Tado radiator valves should follow one room temperature instead of fighting each other.
It is less compelling as a generic Matter temperature sensor. If the planned automation is only "turn on a fan when it gets warm," a simpler sensor may be a better buy.
Should you buy it?
Buy it when Tado X is already handling the heat and the room needs a better measuring point. Skip it if you are not using Tado X, or if the sensor would only be a decorative way to get a temperature reading into Matter.

- Tado X radiator setups with several valves in one room
- Buyers who want local temperature buttons away from the radiator
