Two setup paths

Radiator Thermostat II [+M] is part of Bosch's direct Matter-capable line. That means it can be added straight to a Matter setup without Smart Home Controller II, or it can be used inside Bosch Smart Home if you want Bosch's app, heating schedules, room grouping, and services.

The choice is less about whether the valve can work with Matter and more about which feature set you want day to day. Matter gets the thermostat into more ecosystems. Bosch Smart Home keeps Bosch's deeper heating routines in one place.

Setup path

For direct Matter setup, plan on a Matter controller with Thread border router support. The thermostat is a battery device, so good Thread coverage near the radiator matters. If the radiator is far from powered Thread devices, fix coverage before installing several valves.

For the Bosch path, set it up through Smart Home Controller II. That gives you Bosch's app controls and services, then the controller can bridge supported functions outward to a Matter ecosystem.

Where it fits

This is a practical pick for apartments and houses with standard European radiator valves. It gives each radiator a local dial and display, while the app path handles schedules and automations.

It is not the right choice for every heating system. Check the valve type, the included adapters, and whether your preferred Matter app handles thermostat controls the way you expect.

Should you buy it?

Buy Radiator Thermostat II [+M] if you want Bosch's radiator hardware with a direct Matter escape hatch. Skip it if your heating system is not compatible or if you need Bosch's full heating services inside a non-Bosch app.
