Useful when the existing controls deserve to stay
Dual Relay Module T2 lets you automate equipment without putting another branded switch on the wall. Its two outputs can control two suitable circuits, while the original switches remain useful. That is appealing in a room with matching wall plates or an existing arrangement you have no reason to replace.
The more distinctive feature is dry-contact operation: T2 can close a compatible control input without supplying the load voltage through that contact. This suits some boiler, gate or garage-opener control jobs that an ordinary powered lighting relay cannot do. The equipment's electrical requirements still decide whether it is a substitute for its existing control.
Aqara's stores listed T2 at $34.99, €34.99 and £34.99 on September 10, 2026. With standard delivery, a standalone order is $44.98 before tax in the contiguous US/DC, €44.98 in Germany, France, Italy or Spain, or £44.98 in the UK. Any hub, enclosure and electrician's work are additional.
Two outputs come with shared limits
The 45.5 × 48 × 24 mm module needs more room than its dimensions alone suggest once wiring and the existing switch are present. Aqara suggests a wall box around 60 mm deep and includes a DIN-rail adapter for an appropriate cabinet. A shallow box can turn a cheap relay into a larger installation job.
AC operation requires neutral. The headline 10 A rating is shared across the two channels; it is not 10 A each. LED and CFL loads have a much lower 1 A/250 W limit, while motor loads are limited to 1 A or a quarter horsepower. Those distinctions matter more than the broad list of appliances in the advertising.
A qualified electrician should choose the circuit, operating mode and enclosure. T2 switches loads on and off; it does not dim lights, and its overload features do not replace a circuit breaker. For a bidirectional motor, interlock must prevent both direction outputs from powering together. Do not buy it expecting an automatically calibrated blind-position display or a complete garage-door position sensor.
The hub is easier to accept when you already own it
T2 connects through Zigbee to a compatible Aqara hub, which shares supported controls through Matter. An existing bridge makes that a modest addition. Buying and maintaining a hub solely for two lighting circuits makes the total proposition less attractive.
Energy monitoring works in AC wet-contact operation and stays in Aqara Home, along with power-based automations. That can help an Aqara user understand a connected load, but the readings should not be counted on in another Matter app. We have not measured energy savings or compared radio reliability with competing relays.
For straightforward powered outputs, compare Shelly 2PM Gen3 and Gen4. Both offer direct Matter over Wi-Fi without an Aqara bridge. They do not supply T2's dry-contact function, so this comparison applies to ordinary switching and suitable blind motors, not every T2 job.
A short commitment for something inside the wall
Aqara's published UK compliance statement defines T2's security-support period through December 31, 2026. As checked in September 2026, we could not verify a longer product-specific commitment. That date does not mean installed relays stop working or that Aqara has announced an immediate end to all updates.
It does leave little promised time for a new installation intended to stay in place for years. T2 remains a defensible choice for a defined dry-contact job in an existing Aqara home. For an ordinary lighting upgrade, compare the alternatives and the full installation cost before paying to hide a new T2 behind the wall.
