ThirdReality announced on August 19, 2026, that it will show four new Matter-over-Thread products at IFA in Berlin: a Smart Soil Moisture Sensor, Smart Button, Smart Plug, and Smart Bulb. The company plans to release the lineup in the second half of 2026, but says final availability and pricing will come closer to launch. IFA runs from September 4 to 8.

That makes this a useful preview, not a shopping list. ThirdReality has not published model numbers, regional versions, detailed specifications, Matter versions, or exact release dates for any of the four products. Matterhome has not tested them, and the announcement does not establish that a buyer can order one today.

Four useful jobs, with important blanks

The soil sensor and button are the more interesting Thread choices. Both are jobs where a low-power mesh connection can make more sense than putting another battery accessory on Wi-Fi. They will still need a compatible Matter controller and Thread border router, and ThirdReality has not yet named the supported ecosystem features. A button that pairs is not automatically a button whose full set of press actions appears in every Matter platform.

ThirdReality associates the announced plug with energy monitoring and the bulb with lighting control. It does not say which platforms will display the plug's readings, what electrical standards the plug will use, or what bulb bases and brightness levels will ship. Those details decide whether either product fits a particular home.

The unnamed Thread plug should not be confused with the current ThirdReality Smart Plug M1, a North American Matter-over-Wi-Fi model. M1's price, 15 A rating, and documented SmartThings and Home Assistant energy views do not carry over to this new product merely because the names are similar.

Wait for the IFA demonstrations and exact product pages before planning a room around this lineup. A credible buying decision needs the model number, region, controller requirements, platform-specific controls, price, and either current stock or a firm release date. Until ThirdReality supplies those, all four devices stay on the news side of Matterhome's database.
