IKEA lists a 199-krona Matter radiator thermostat

As of September 4, 2026, IKEA Sweden lists the new LILJEBAGGE smart radiator thermostat for 199 Swedish kronor. Article 806.220.62 uses Matter over Thread, but IKEA's page currently shows it as unavailable for online purchase. No launch date or listing for another country is documented, so this is an early Swedish product listing rather than a thermostat most readers can buy today.

The price is attention-grabbing, but the heating system decides whether LILJEBAGGE is useful. It replaces the thermostatic head on a water-based radiator. IKEA includes six adapters and five fitting guides, and says the set fits most water-based radiators. It is not a thermostat for forced-air heating, electric radiators, or underfloor-heating controllers. Two AA batteries are also required and sold separately.

Matter does not remove the Thread requirement

LILJEBAGGE can be adjusted from its display or controlled remotely through an app. IKEA says scheduled scenes can lower the temperature overnight and raise it in the morning. The valve also exercises itself every two weeks to reduce limescale buildup and has an anti-freeze mode. If the internet connection fails, it holds the last set temperature and still accepts manual changes.

Remote control needs a Thread border router. IKEA names DIRIGERA as one option and lists Amazon, Apple, Google, Homey, and Samsung among compatible Matter systems. The product page does not say which scheduling or valve-specific controls each outside platform exposes, so buyers should not assume that every IKEA app function will move with the Matter pairing.

There is no reason to import this first listing. Wait for LILJEBAGGE to appear in stock in your country, then check the radiator valve against the supplied adapters before buying several. The 199-krona price could make room-by-room heating control much cheaper, but only once local stock, regional support, valve fit, and a usable Thread network are all confirmed.
