Brilliant NextGen launched Brilliant Max on July 21, 2026, as a subscription service for homes with Brilliant controls. The service is available now and starts with Away Mode and Vacation Mode, continuous device optimization, premium support, hardware upgrade opportunities, and a Shelly Bluetooth door and window sensor with every subscription.
Brilliant says subscribers can add Shelly Bluetooth motion sensors for broader coverage. Home Mode and Night Mode are due later. The launch announcement does not publish the subscription price, billing terms, or regional availability, so buyers cannot yet compare its total cost with automations that run locally or are included with another platform.
The sensor bundle is also worth reading precisely. Brilliant describes an integration with select Shelly devices, not a general promise that every Shelly product will work. The release does not identify the supported models beyond the included door and window sensor and optional motion sensors.
The 2022 Matter plan remains unconfirmed
Brilliant announced plans to add Matter support in 2022. Its current compatibility page documents Apple HomeKit, Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, SmartThings, and several direct or bridge-based integrations, but it does not list Matter or an active Matter commissioning route.
The Max announcement does not change that status. It does not name a supported Matter version, device type, controller role, setup-code flow, or firmware update. That absence is not proof that Matter will never arrive, but the 2022 plan is not a current buying feature without model-specific setup documentation.
Existing Brilliant owners should ask what the subscription costs, what stops working after cancellation, and whether the included sensor can be reused outside Brilliant Max. New buyers should also confirm which Max modes are available now rather than planned for later.
If Matter is a requirement, ask Brilliant for the exact panel model, firmware version, supported device types, and commissioning steps before ordering. Treat Brilliant Max as a Brilliant-managed service with selected Shelly Bluetooth sensors unless the company publishes a current Matter path. Matterhome has not tested the service, panel, or automations.
