Amazon announced a Smart Home AI Toolkit for Alexa+ on July 23, 2026. The preview lets manufacturers upload device documentation or describe capabilities in normal language, then generates much of the Alexa+ voice experience, visual controls, and routines. Amazon named 14 early brands, but it did not launch a list of compatible products that owners can connect today.
Bosch, Delta, Ecovacs, SONOFF, Govee, iRobot, Moen Flo, PetSafe, Pila Energy, Twinkly, Yale Home, Whirlpool, Tapo, and Eufy are the first named participants. The list spans appliances, lighting, locks, robot vacuums, water controls, and pet products. It is not a promise that every current device from those brands will gain deeper Alexa+ control.
Amazon's example is a connected washer. Instead of selecting one of 30 cycles in an app, an owner could describe a cold-wash job and let Alexa+ choose the matching settings. The company also says Alexa+ could learn preferences and suggest routines. Those examples show the intended direction, not functions with published model numbers, rollout dates, country availability, or account requirements.
The distinction matters because the toolkit is an Alexa integration layer for custom capabilities beyond standard APIs. Amazon's separate Matter documentation describes a different path: a certified device connects locally to a compatible Echo over Matter on Wi-Fi or Thread and can use multi-admin to join other platforms. The July 23 announcement does not add a Matter device type, update Echo Matter support, or say that the 14 partner integrations will work outside Alexa+.
A manufacturer could eventually support both paths. Matter could handle portable basics such as power, temperature, or lock state, while Alexa+ exposes a brand-specific cycle or mode. Until an exact product page documents both, however, the partner list proves only that the companies are working with Amazon's preview.
There is nothing for an owner to migrate today. Keep using the setup path and app that already work, and do not buy a device because its brand appears in Amazon's announcement. Wait for the manufacturer or Amazon to name the model, feature, region, release status, and whether control is local through Matter or tied to an Alexa+ add-on.
