Two lights are the reason to buy it

SONOFF MINI DUO is appealing when two lighting circuits meet behind the same wall control. One module gives you two separately switched outputs, so a main light and a second lighting circuit can have their own commands without installing two relay modules.

The single MINI-2GS was listed at $17.90 in SONOFF's US store on September 9, 2026. A two-pack of MINIR4M was $22.90. With tax included in SONOFF’s listed prices and shipping and cart promotions separate, DUO saves $5 on the hardware and combines the channels in one body. Separate relays still make more sense when the loads are in different locations; DUO cannot solve that by software.

Compact hardware, but not two unrestricted relays

The body measures 45 × 39.4 × 16.8 mm. That is compact for two channels, but SONOFF specifies a mounting box at least 60 mm deep. The module's thickness alone does not tell you whether the existing box has room for it and the wiring. A neutral and professional installation are required.

Each channel is rated up to 10 A, with both together limited to 16 A, for resistive loads. Two 10 A labels do not add up to 20 A of usable capacity. For suitable lighting circuits this may be ample; the shared ceiling becomes a much more important drawback if you are trying to control larger loads.

There is no dimming or energy monitoring. This is a practical way to switch two loads independently, not a way to compare their consumption.

A useful trick for the physical switch

SONOFF's Stepper feature lets one wall input cycle through a chosen sequence of channel states. You could move between the main light, the second light, both on and both off without opening an app. That is a more interesting benefit than simply adding another remote switch.

Stepper needs MINI-2GS firmware 1.1.2 or later and configuration in eWeLink. It cannot run while detached-relay mode is enabled. Ordinary Matter commands can control the two outputs, but Stepper is a SONOFF feature rather than a setting every Matter app offers. Buy for the two useful channels first; treat that physical-control trick as an optional extra.

Two outputs do not make a curtain controller

SONOFF explicitly says MINI DUO is not a curtain-motor controller. It lacks the motor interlock, calibration and percentage control needed for that role. The terminal count is not a reason to repurpose it for blinds.

For two switched circuits with native energy monitoring, consider Shelly 2PM Gen3. It also offers a documented cover mode for suitable motors. For a single circuit, MINIR4M is smaller and cheaper. Choose MINI DUO when two simple loads in one location are exactly what you need; its shared package and modest price are the strengths.
