The shape has to work before the software matters
This is a fixed 16-foot indoor run. LIFX says it cannot be cut, and the indoor model is not intended for dusty or damp locations. Lay it out before mounting, account for the controller and wall plug, and make sure the bends are comfortable rather than forcing the silicone rope around a tight corner.
The box includes channels, adhesive, and screws. That makes temporary wall art and a more permanent outline possible, but neither mounting method fixes a length mismatch. The current setup guide starts in the LIFX app with Bluetooth enabled, then uses the Matter QR code from the manual or device.
Existing owners have a more consequential decision. LIFX's current support guidance names LFXNEON16 on the update list and says Matter firmware is available for eligible Indoor SuperColor Neon Flex units. Confirm that the option appears for the individual light before starting. The migration replaces the light's legacy Apple HomeKit credentials with a new Matter code, decommissions the old HomeKit connection, and cannot be undone with an ordinary factory reset. Save the new QR code before leaving the update flow, then reconnect the light to each ecosystem that should control it.
Do not update a stable installation merely to add another logo. The migration is useful when local Matter control or multi-ecosystem sharing solves a real problem. It is unnecessary disruption when the existing LIFX and HomeKit arrangement already does everything the room needs.
Matter handles the light, not the whole canvas
LIFX lists Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa, and SmartThings for the exact product. Those platforms are the practical layer for power, brightness, color, voice commands, and ordinary automations. LIFX's 60-zone painting, animated themes, and detailed effects remain reasons to keep the LIFX app installed.
Home Assistant is not on LIFX's compatibility list for this model. A Matter controller should present it as a light, but Matterhome has not tested the entity, transitions, or color behavior. Verify one automation before relying on it as part of a larger room scene.
Buy the 16-foot Neon Flex when its unbroken diffused line is the point and the full route fits the room. Govee's Matter neon rope family offers more size and indoor-versus-outdoor choices.
