Clever hardware at an unconvincing price

Dreame X50 Ultra Complete has a sensible ambition: reach more of the floor without someone rescuing it. Retracting legs help it cross raised thresholds, while its navigation tower lowers so the robot can fit beneath furniture. Those features matter when your current vacuum repeatedly leaves the same room or space under a bed untouched.

The current German offer is less persuasive. On September 11, 2026, Dreame asked €999 including VAT and free shipping, while its Matrix10 Ultra was €799. Matrix10 also lowers to 89 mm and adds automatic swapping between different mop pairs. At those prices, I would not choose X50 as the default premium purchase. We have not tested either robot's cleaning performance or long-term reliability.

This review covers the European Complete package. Its extra consumables are part of the value calculation; prices for differently bundled US models should not be treated as the same offer.

Measure the obstruction before paying to cross it

The X50 drops from 111 mm to 89 mm high with its navigation sensor retracted. That is a meaningful difference beneath low sofas and beds. It is also a tight physical clearance: protruding screws, crossbars or fabric can still interfere. Dreame itself warns that furniture close to the robot's height can scratch it.

Its six-centimetre climbing headline describes two steps separated by more than four centimetres. A single vertical step is rated at 4.2 cm. A suitable doorway threshold may become accessible; a staircase will not. I would measure the actual problem before spending hundreds of euros to solve it.

These are useful capabilities, but they are no longer unique to X50. Its case becomes stronger when a discounted offer puts it below Matrix10, or when the Matrix dock simply does not fit your available space.

Leaving the mops behind is more useful than a suction contest

The dock can remove the mop assemblies before a vacuum-only run. It can also let the robot vacuum first, return to collect the mops and then wash the hard floors. That is an attractive routine for homes with carpets where merely lifting damp pads would leave you uneasy.

Two main rollers, an extending side brush and an extending mop complete the cleaning hardware. The camera and structured-light sensors help it identify objects, but I would still clear charging cables, toys and pet accidents before an unattended run. Those jobs are not eliminated by an obstacle-recognition claim.

The 20,000 Pa specification gives no reliable answer to whether it cleans your carpet better than another robot. Access to previously missed floor area is the more concrete reason to upgrade.

The Complete bundle buys supplies, not freedom from maintenance

The European package adds a spare main brush, two side brushes, three dust bags, twelve mop pads, three filters and a litre of cleaning solution beyond the base equipment. That is useful stock to have on hand and makes a bare-device price comparison misleading.

The dock automatically empties dust, doses detergent, refills the robot and washes and dries its pads. Its 80°C washing setting applies at the dock. At 457 × 340 × 590 mm, it takes less floor area than Matrix10's cabinet, but still needs clear access for the robot and the top-mounted tanks.

The manual calls for cleaning the used-water tank after each use and fortnightly attention to the clean tank, brushes, filter and mop holders. Suggested replacement intervals include one to three months for pads and two to four months for bags, depending on actual use. A full box of spares postpones shopping; it does not remove this work.

Wait for a better deal, or keep the robot you have

Matrix10 Ultra is the more compelling €799 offer if its large cabinet fits and you want separate mop sets. Aqua10 Roller, at €599, is another choice when roller mopping matters more than low furniture clearance.

X50 has released European Matter support, but owner reports on firmware 4.3.9_3684 describe limited status information, including a September report of “running” while recharging mid-job. That is a reported limitation, not our test; keep detailed cleaning management in Dreamehome and check any automation that depends on its status.

Choose X50 when the physical access problem is real and the price improves. Keep a working cleaner if it already reaches your floors: climbing legs and another smart-home connection do not justify replacement on their own.
