Ubiquiti has listed the SuperLink Gateway HA (USL-G2-Gateway-HA) for Q3 2026 at $199 in the United States and EUR179 in Europe. The new UniFi Protect hardware combines a gateway for Ubiquiti's proprietary SuperLink sensors with a Thread border router for up to 128 Thread devices. Ubiquiti does not name a Matter controller, Matter certification, or third-party commissioning flow on the store or specification pages.
Matter-smarthome reported the listing on July 27, 2026, and Ubiquiti's regional stores still show a notification button rather than an order button. This is announced Thread infrastructure, not a confirmed way to turn a UniFi network into a Matter platform.
Ubiquiti documents the radio, not the Matter setup
Ubiquiti's technical specifications describe a 2.4 GHz Thread radio, a 3 dBi Thread antenna, a claimed range of up to 100 metres, and capacity for 128 Thread clients. The box connects over 10/100 Ethernet and can take power from PoE, USB-C, or a 12 V input. Ubiquiti also lists LTE connectivity and a built-in battery rated for 2.2 hours of backup power.
Those features make sense for a UniFi Protect installation that already uses long-range SuperLink security sensors. They do not answer the setup questions that matter in a mixed smart home: whether the gateway creates a separate Thread network or can join an existing one, which ecosystems can use it for Matter-over-Thread accessories, and whether UniFi will provide any controller or credential-sharing interface.
Until Ubiquiti publishes that documentation, owners should not assume Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa, SmartThings, or Home Assistant will use the gateway as their Thread path. Google's own setup requirements, for example, call for a Matter-enabled hub plus a Thread border router when a device uses Thread. Ubiquiti has documented only the border-router role.
If the immediate goal is a working Matter setup, use a border router explicitly supported by the platform that will commission the accessories. Existing UniFi Protect users can join the SuperLink Gateway HA notification list if LTE and battery backup solve a real security-system problem. Wait for the installation and commissioning guide before counting it as a replacement for an Apple, Google, Amazon, Samsung, or Home Assistant hub.
