# SONOFF's $24.90 presence sensor joins Matter over Wi-Fi, but its zones stay outside Matter

SONOFF started selling the SenseGuard Presence Core 24G (SNWF-06P24) on October 28: a USB-powered radar presence sensor that joins Matter controllers over Wi-Fi. Matter gets one occupancy signal and a light reading, while the zones, calibration and sensitivity stay in eWeLink or SONOFF's local web console.

SONOFF put the SenseGuard Presence Core 24G (model SNWF-06P24) on sale on October 28, 2026. It is a USB-C-powered 24 GHz radar sensor that tells whether someone is in a room even when they sit still, and it joins Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa, SmartThings and Home Assistant over Matter and 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. It needs the Matter controller your platform already uses, such as a HomePod, Google Nest speaker, Echo or SmartThings hub, but no SONOFF hub or Thread border router. [SONOFF's international store](https://sonoff.tech/products/sonoff-senseguard-presence-core-24ghz-matter-over-wifi-human-presence-sensor-snwf-06p24) lists it in stock at $24.90 and its [German store](https://sonoff.tech/de-de/products/sonoff-senseguard-presence-core-24ghz-matter-over-wifi-human-presence-sensor-snwf-06p24) at €24.90, and [HomeKits](https://homekits.de/sonoff-presence-sensor-mit-matter-startet-bei-amazon/) reported on October 29 that Amazon Germany was taking preorders for an October 30 release. The sensor was [certified](https://on.dcl.csa-iot.org/dcl/compliance/compliance-info/4897/340/1/matter) on September 1 as a Matter 1.5 occupancy sensor that connects over Wi-Fi.

That price undercuts every presence sensor Matterhome reviews. At our last price checks, the battery-powered [Meross MS605](/devices/meross-ms605-thread-presence-sensor) cost $33.99 but needs Thread; the USB-powered [Meross MS600](/devices/meross-ms600-presence-sensor), the closest Wi-Fi equivalent, cost $40.99; and [Shelly Presence Gen4](/devices/shelly-presence-gen4) cost $84.99. SONOFF's Zigbee version, the SNZB-06P24, sells for the same $24.90 but reaches Matter through a SONOFF bridge such as the $59.90 [Bridge Max](/devices/sonoff-bridge-max). Unless one of those bridges is already in the house, the Wi-Fi model is the direct route.

## Matter gets one signal and a light level

SONOFF's [support page](https://help.sonoff.tech/docs/snwf-06p24) says the sensor "exposes fewer features in the Matter ecosystem": Matter controllers receive two readings, occupancy and illuminance. The seven zones split the 4 m detection range into distance bands that you switch on or off to keep a fan or a doorway out of the count, and SONOFF's [installation guide](https://help.sonoff.tech/docs/snwf-06p24-installation) says the zone and calibration settings are not available on Matter platforms. The zones are masks, not separate occupancy sensors, so your Matter app sees one occupied-or-clear state for the whole field. If you want the sofa and the desk to drive different lights, Shelly Presence Gen4 can expose up to ten drawn zones to Matter, while the MS605's three outputs split the room only by distance from the sensor.

The zones, sensitivity, the self-learning calibration that filters fixed sources such as fans and air conditioners, and the hold time before the room reports empty (15 seconds to just under 12 hours) are all set in the eWeLink app or in OpenEdge, a browser console the sensor serves on your local network. The sensor can stay connected to eWeLink or the console while it is paired with a Matter platform, so you can add it to Apple Home and still adjust it there. OpenEdge can also switch the cloud connection, MQTT and WebSocket on or off. Home Assistant can add the sensor through its Matter integration or over MQTT, and SONOFF says MQTT exposes settings and entities that Matter does not. Its product page advertises MQTT Discovery, the same local route SONOFF introduced on the [MINI-1GSP relay](/news/sonoff-openedge-mini-1gsp) in August.

SONOFF's support page ticks both readings for all five platforms, including Alexa. Amazon's [list of supported Matter device types](https://developer.amazon.com/docs/alexaplus/smarthome/supported-matter-device-categories) is less encouraging: it maps Matter occupancy to Alexa's motion sensor and names no Alexa interface for the light sensor type. Meross and Aqara also say the light readings from their presence sensors, including the [Aqara FP300](/devices/aqara-presence-multi-sensor-fp300), do not reach Alexa. In Alexa, plan on a motion trigger without a light-level condition until SONOFF or Amazon shows otherwise.

## Placement decides whether it is worth $24.90

The sensor needs constant 5 V, 1 A power over USB-C and has no battery, so the location has to suit a cable. The [manual](https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0742/9963/8001/files/User_Manual_SNWF-06P24_EN.pdf) puts the range at about 4 m across a 120-degree angle and calls for mounting 1 to 2 m above the floor, aimed at chest height, either standing on a desk or fixed with the magnetic base on metal, adhesive or screws. That 2 m limit makes it a shelf or wall sensor for a living room, office or kitchen and rules out the ceiling. SONOFF says a completely still person is detected best within 3 m of the sensor and facing it, so put it near the chair or sofa that matters.

Two limits narrow where it works. SONOFF says the sensor cannot reliably detect a sleeping person, so it is the wrong choice for keeping bedroom lights or climate in an occupied state overnight. Neither the zones nor calibration can exclude pets or robot vacuums, which SONOFF lists among the causes of false presence; for pets, it suggests tilting the sensor upward, away from where they move.

For a Wi-Fi Matter home that needs one presence signal and a light level in a room where someone reads or works at a desk, it is the least expensive presence sensor with a direct Matter path that Matterhome has found. Choose the Meross MS605 instead if you have Thread and want to avoid a cable, or Shelly Presence Gen4 if separate zones need to reach your Matter app. SONOFF also certified a second Wi-Fi presence sensor, SNWF-06P60, on the same day; it is not in SONOFF's store, and SONOFF has published no specifications or release date for it.
