# SmartThings 0.62.7 will let hubs change Thread networks

SmartThings hub firmware 0.62.7 adds a path to a different Thread network, but the move needs an upcoming app update and may disrupt Zigbee devices.

SmartThings announced hub firmware 0.62.7 on September 4, 2026, with a staged rollout scheduled for September 8 through September 16. The update will let supported hubs that already manage Zigbee or Matter-over-Thread devices join a different Thread network. That can help a SmartThings home move away from a separate or poorly placed Thread mesh, but the control is not usable yet: SmartThings says it depends on an upcoming version of its app.

The firmware targets five dedicated hub models:

SmartThings does not list its Station, TVs, monitors, soundbars, appliances, or other Hub Everywhere products in this rollout notice. Owners of those controllers should not assume that the same migration control is arriving on the same schedule.

## Wait for the app before touching the mesh

Moving a hub to an existing Thread network can be useful when Matter accessories and border routers have ended up on separate meshes. It is not a routine firmware action to perform on a stable home. SmartThings warns that some Zigbee devices may need to be added again if the destination Thread network uses a different radio channel. The release note does not identify which Zigbee models are most exposed or describe a rollback path.

Firmware 0.62.7 also lets offline diagnostics recover Thread devices automatically in some rare network conditions. A separate change improves device-state synchronization after the hub has been offline for an extended period, so the app should more accurately reflect the home when the hub reconnects. SmartThings does not claim that either change repairs weak Thread coverage or merges networks automatically.

Let the hub take the scheduled update, then wait for the matching SmartThings app version and its instructions. Before choosing another Thread network, record the hub's Zigbee devices and critical routines, confirm the destination mesh reaches the rooms that matter, and keep recovery time available for anything that needs to be paired again. If the existing Matter-over-Thread devices are stable, leave the network alone.
