Homey added solar-production forecasts and export-price accounting to Homey Energy on August 20, 2026. Owners can now put today's or tomorrow's expected generation into a Flow, instead of waiting for an inverter or meter to report that the sun is already producing power.

The forecast is available on [Homey Pro](/devices/homey-pro), [Homey Pro mini](/devices/homey-pro-mini), and Homey Self-Hosted Server. Homey Cloud users need Homey Premium. The minimum versions are Homey Pro or Self-Hosted Server 13.4.0 and the Homey mobile app 10.1.0, and the home must have at least one device that Homey recognizes as a solar panel.

## Plan loads before the production arrives

Homey combines local weather, panel orientation and system size, and past production. The Energy chart shows a dashed forecast for today and tomorrow, while new Flow cards expose expected energy in kWh, peak power in watts, and the hours with the highest expected output. That is enough to delay a dishwasher, e-bike charge, or air conditioner until the forecasted peak rather than react to a single live reading.

Setup details matter. Homey assumes south-facing panels at a standard tilt until the owner enters the real orientation, tilt, and peak capacity. Arrays facing different directions can be split into as many as five groups. A newly added solar device or a system just updated to 13.4.0 needs one day of production history before the forecast appears, and Homey says accuracy should improve over the first sunny days.

Use the estimate as a scheduling input, not a guaranteed energy budget. Passing clouds, shade, snow, dirt, and late weather changes can all move actual production away from the line on the chart.

## Export pricing has a regional boundary

Homey Energy can also include the money earned or charged when electricity goes back to the grid. A fixed export rate can be entered from the energy contract. Dynamic pricing can follow Homey's import price or base market price, with an offset or formula applied.

Homey's current list for built-in dynamic electricity prices covers Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain, and Sweden. Households elsewhere should verify the available rate source before relying on a dynamic export calculation; a fixed contract rate is the safer starting point when Homey does not provide the local market region.

This is a Homey Energy and Flow feature, not a new Matter capability shared automatically with Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa, or SmartThings. A Homey Matter controller still needs a compatible solar device inside Homey before it can forecast production. Update the platform, enter the actual panel layout, then compare tomorrow's forecast with a few days of measured output before letting it schedule a large load.
