# Tapo S505

Tapo S505 is a direct-Matter Wi-Fi switch for ordinary on/off lighting circuits. It is useful if you prefer the Tapo app, but it should be skipped for no-neutral boxes, dimmable fixtures, or three-way wiring that is not explicitly supported.

## Tapo's basic Matter wall switch

Tapo S505 replaces a standard wall switch and brings the circuit into Matter over Wi-Fi. It is the practical choice when the light should remain controlled from the wall and from more than one smart home app.

The switch is not a shortcut around wiring requirements. Neutral wiring and a compatible circuit are still required.

## Setup path

Confirm the wiring before buying. After installation, connect it to 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, update it through Tapo, and pair into Matter if you want Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa, SmartThings, or Home Assistant control.

Name the switch by the fixture it controls, not by the switch model. That keeps voice control understandable.

## What to check

Buy it for normal on/off lighting. If the room needs brightness control, choose a dimmer. If the circuit is three-way, buy a switch or kit meant for that wiring.
