# Tapo P100M (Europe)

Tapo P100M is the European basic Matter plug to compare with the U.S.-style Tapo P125M. Buy it for simple on/off control in a Wi-Fi home, not for energy charts or Thread mesh coverage.

## Ecosystem Support

- Apple Home: Supported
- Google Home: Supported
- Alexa: Supported
- SmartThings: Supported
- Home Assistant: Limited

## Best For

- European outlets where a basic Matter plug is enough
- Lamps and small appliances that only need on/off control
- Tapo users who want Matter sharing without a separate hub

## Skip If

- You need energy monitoring from the plug
- Your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi is unreliable at the outlet
- You are shopping for a U.S. or Canada plug format

## Setup Notes

- Use the regional Tapo P100M listing for European outlet and load information.
- Pair with the Matter code in Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa, SmartThings, or another Matter controller.
- Keep the Tapo app available for firmware updates and TP-Link-specific scheduling.

## Known Limitations

- It does not extend a Thread mesh.
- Matter exposes the core outlet control more reliably than TP-Link-only settings.
- The regional load rating should be checked before using motors, heaters, or high-demand appliances.

## Pros

- Matter-over-Wi-Fi control without a hub
- European plug format on the regional TP-Link page
- Compact plug body
- Local control path through Matter-compatible ecosystems

## Cons

- No built-in energy monitoring
- Uses 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi rather than Thread
- The German page lists a 10 A, 2300 W maximum load

## The European basic Tapo plug

Tapo P100M is the small Matter plug to look at when the Tapo P125M page is the wrong physical format. It uses Wi-Fi, not Thread, and it does not require a Tapo hub for the Matter path.

The tradeoff is that it is a basic switch. TP-Link's German page lists the regional load rating and Matter support, but this is not the plug to buy if power readings are part of the automation.

## Setup path

Put it on a reliable 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network, then pair it with the Matter code in the ecosystem where you want the outlet to live. The Tapo app remains useful for firmware, schedules, and any TP-Link-specific maintenance.

No Thread border router is involved. That is convenient for a Wi-Fi home, but it also means the plug does nothing to strengthen Thread sensors or locks nearby.

## What to check

The physical and electrical checks matter first. Make sure the regional plug body fits your outlet and that the listed load rating is appropriate for the appliance.

Use P100M for lamps, decorations, fans, and small appliances. Skip it for heaters, heavy motors, or anything where you need energy history.

## Should you buy it?

Buy Tapo P100M Europe when you want a cheap regional Matter plug for on/off control. Choose Tapo P110M Europe if metering matters, and choose the U.S. Tapo P125M page only when you are actually buying the North American plug.
