A ceiling light and a row of spotlights can leave a buyer choosing between two smart relays and one crowded box. SONOFF MINI DUO handles both circuits in one `45 x 39.4 x 16.8 mm` module, exposes them as separate controls, and pairs directly through Matter over Wi-Fi. At about $18 for one, it is an unusually cheap answer when the electrical job fits.

The price does not settle that fit. MINI-2GS needs neutral wiring, a box at least 60 mm deep, and professional mains installation. Its two channels also share one load budget. Matterhome has not tested the module, so this is a compatibility guide rather than a judgment on its terminals, temperature under load, or long-term reliability.

## Two outputs share one electrical limit

MINI-2GS is model `MINI-2GS`; SONOFF's current one-pack store SKU is `6920075743623`. The module accepts single-phase 110-240 V power at 50 or 60 Hz. Each output is rated for up to 10 A, but the two outputs together must stay at or below 16 A. SONOFF states those figures for resistive loads.

That distinction should shape the project. Two conventional lighting circuits are an easier fit than a light and an arbitrary motor. SONOFF uses a bathroom exhaust fan as one Stepper example, but the product FAQ specifically rejects curtain motors because the module lacks interlock, motor calibration, and percentage control. A fan, pump, transformer, or other inductive load needs a documented suitability check rather than an assumption based on the 16 A headline.

The manual calls for copper 16 to 14 AWG solid or stranded conductors and an upstream 16 A miniature circuit breaker or residual-current breaker with integral overcurrent protection. It also warns that S1 and S2 are switch inputs, not neutral or ground connections. These are reasons to give the wiring diagram and local code to the electrician before ordering, not after the module is open on the bench.

## Pair two endpoints, configure the wall separately

Once installed, MINI-2GS joins through Matter over 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. It does not need a Thread border router or a SONOFF hub. SONOFF's manual provides QR-code commissioning paths for Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa, and SmartThings, and the product page also names Home Assistant.

The safe cross-platform expectation is two ordinary switch endpoints. Give them names based on the connected loads, such as ceiling light and spotlights, then test each endpoint from the app and at the wall before building routines. A vague name such as switch one is an invitation for voice commands and automations to target the wrong circuit.

SONOFF's Stepper, detach-relay, inching, and power-on settings belong to the eWeLink side of the device. The current materials do not say that those controls travel through Matter, and they do not document energy monitoring or dimming. Use Matter for shared on-off control. Keep eWeLink only when its firmware or hardware-specific configuration earns the extra app.

MINI-2GS accepts rocker and momentary switches. With firmware 1.1.2 or later, SONOFF's Stepper mode can make one physical input cycle through custom combinations of the two outputs. That can preserve a single-gang wall control while adding a second lighting layer behind it.

Stepper is useful only when its interaction is intentional. The wall-switch type in eWeLink must match the installed control, and enabling detach-relay mode disables Stepper. A configuration that only the installer understands will be frustrating later, so the final switch behavior should be tested and documented for the household before the box is closed.

## Buy it for two known circuits

MINI DUO makes sense when two simple loads, neutral wiring, Wi-Fi coverage, box space, and a professional installation path are already confirmed. It keeps the dual-channel job in one module while preserving physical control for both circuits.
