# Roborock Saros 20 Sonic

Saros 20 Sonic is for buyers who already want Roborock's premium cleaning hardware and want Matter as a second control surface. It is not a good buy if the smart-home integration matters more than the robot's cleaning performance.

## A premium vacuum with Matter on the side

Roborock Saros 20 Sonic has current manufacturer wording for Matter support, which makes it safer to list than models whose product pages still describe Matter as future firmware. It connects over Wi-Fi, so there is no Thread border router requirement.

The reason to buy it is still the robot. If the dock, suction, mopping system, noise profile, and navigation do not fit your home, Matter will not fix that.

## What Matter should do

Use Matter for ordinary control: starting, stopping, sending the robot home, checking state, and possibly selecting cleaning behavior exposed by your platform. Use Roborock for the house-specific setup: maps, rooms, no-go areas, dock maintenance, and cleaning strategy.

That two-layer approach is less elegant than a single app, but it is currently the realistic robot-vacuum path.

## Should you buy it?

Buy Saros 20 Sonic when the vacuum itself is the right fit and Matter is a helpful add-on. Skip it if you expect Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa, SmartThings, or Home Assistant to replace Roborock's app.
