# Kasa KS225

Kasa KS225 is the Kasa Matter switch to pick when the fixture should dim from the wall and from multiple ecosystems. It is only a good buy after checking neutral wiring and bulb compatibility.

## Ecosystem Support

- Apple Home: Supported
- Google Home: Supported
- Alexa: Supported
- SmartThings: Supported
- Home Assistant: Limited

## Best For

- Dimmable ceiling lights on a compatible circuit
- Kasa users moving wall lighting into Matter
- Rooms where physical dimming still matters

## Skip If

- The wall box has no neutral wire
- The bulbs or fixture are not dimmer-friendly
- You only need a simple on/off switch

## Setup Notes

- Confirm neutral wiring and dimmable-load compatibility before buying.
- Install only on a circuit that matches the switch requirements.
- Use Kasa for firmware and any dimmer calibration or behavior not exposed through Matter.

## Known Limitations

- Matter dimmer behavior can vary by ecosystem, especially low-end brightness and scene handling.
- Specialty LED bulbs may flicker even when the switch is wired correctly.
- Kasa schedules and advanced settings are not guaranteed to appear in Matter apps.

## Pros

- Direct Matter dimmer control over Wi-Fi
- No Kasa hub or Thread border router required
- Keeps a physical wall dimmer for existing lights
- Kasa app available for firmware and dimmer settings

## Cons

- Requires neutral wiring
- Needs compatible dimmable bulbs or fixtures
- Not for three-way circuits unless the wiring and product version support it

## A Kasa dimmer for Matter homes

Kasa KS225 turns a normal dimmable lighting circuit into a Matter-over-Wi-Fi dimmer. It is better than smart bulbs when the wall control needs to keep working and the fixture has multiple bulbs.

The catch is physical compatibility. A Matter logo does not make a no-neutral box or non-dimmable fixture compatible.

## Setup path

Confirm the wiring, load type, and bulb behavior first. Install the switch only where neutral wiring and circuit requirements are met. Pair it on 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and use Matter to share it into your main ecosystem.

Keep Kasa available for firmware and any dimmer settings your platform does not show.

## What to check

Test minimum brightness, flicker, and behavior after power loss. If the fixture behaves poorly at low levels, fix the load or choose a different control path before buying more dimmers.
