# D-Link PM-01M (US)

PM-01M is hard to recommend at its current price: Tapo sells two metering plugs for the cost of one D-Link, with a more useful Matter energy path. Consider it for its shallower body or an existing AQUILA setup, not as a way to bring energy readings into your Matter app.

## What we like

- About 5 mm shallower than the US Tapo P110M
- AQUILA app adds power history and high/low usage alerts
- Direct Wi-Fi switching without a D-Link bridge

## What could be better

- One costs as much as a Tapo P110M two-pack
- No energy readings or threshold features through Matter
- AQUILA features need a different app from older mydlink devices

## One plug facing a same-price pair

D-Link's US PM-01M has an awkward value problem. Its $23.99 single costs the same as a [Tapo P110M two-pack](/devices/tapo-p110m), before shipping and tax. Both offer switching and energy monitoring, but TP-Link also documents Matter energy readings in Home Assistant and SmartThings on updated US P110M V1.6 hardware. For a new purchase, we would choose the Tapo pair.

There is a reason to consider D-Link behind a side table. Its 35.15 mm-deep body is about 5 mm shallower than P110M, although slightly wider. That difference can matter where furniture crowds the outlet; it is not a guarantee of clearance for the appliance's own plug. PM-01M connects over 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi without a D-Link bridge or Thread border router.

## The meter belongs to AQUILA

PM-01M's more interesting functions are in the AQUILA PRO AI app. Power history can help compare a suitable desk setup's active and idle use, while high or low consumption over a chosen duration can trigger an app notification. A configurable wattage cutoff adds another control. Those features give an existing AQUILA household a reason to keep its plugs together, rather than adding another brand solely for switching.

They are not Matter features on this product. Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa and SmartThings get on/off control, not the meter, activity alerts or wattage cutoff. D-Link also does not clearly establish that every advanced app function remains available after Matter onboarding. If combined app metering and Matter control are essential, choose P110M instead. Matterhome has not tested the plug, its readings or its alerts.

The app distinction matters to older D-Link owners too. PM-01M does not work in the other mydlink apps, even though an existing mydlink login can be used for AQUILA. Its app features require account sign-in; the direct Matter switching route is separate. Buying D-Link again does not keep everything in an older mydlink app.

## Buy for fit, not the Matter meter

This review covers the US 120 V, 60 Hz model for dry indoor use, with a 15 A/1,800 W maximum. The manual's app cutoff range extends above that rating, but a software setting does not increase the plug's electrical capacity. Keep the connected load within the US rating regardless of the cutoff value.

Choose PM-01M only when its shallower shape or AQUILA app is worth the price premium to you. For ordinary new metering purchases, P110M offers more hardware for the same total and a documented route for energy data beyond its brand app.
