A relay disappears into a wall box or electrical cabinet, but its mistakes stay connected to the circuit. Aqara Dual Relay Module T2 is useful because one compact Zigbee module can switch two loads, provide a dry contact for equipment such as a boiler or garage door, or run a bidirectional motor in Interlock mode. It is only a sensible buy after the exact electrical job and enclosure are settled.

T2 does not join Matter directly. It pairs over Zigbee 3.0 with a Matter-compatible Aqara hub, which can then bridge common controls into Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa, SmartThings, or Home Assistant. Matterhome has not tested the wiring, load behavior, or bridge endpoints.

## Start with the circuit and operating mode

The DCM-K01 module measures 45.5 x 48 x 24 mm and has nine wiring terminals. Aqara recommends a wall box about 60 mm deep when it sits behind a switch, and the package includes a DIN-rail adapter for a suitable cabinet. Compact does not mean the module can be packed into any available gap. The conductors, antenna, terminal access, heat, serviceability, and local enclosure rules still need room.

For AC installations, T2 needs live and neutral power. Wet-contact mode uses the supplied jumper between LIN and LOUT so the relay switches the connected supply. Dry-contact mode removes that jumper and uses the outputs as potential-free contacts for compatible control inputs. A qualified electrician should identify the conductors, confirm the equipment's control requirements, and follow Aqara's wiring diagrams rather than infer the circuit from the app name.

The headline 10 A figure is the total across both channels, not permission to connect any two household loads. Aqara lists 100 to 250 V AC with up to 2500 W for incandescent lighting, but only 1 A and 250 W for LED, CFL, or fluorescent loads and 1 A or 1/4 HP for motors. Its DC limits are 10 A and 300 W for a 24 to 30 V resistive load, then 1 A and 60 W from 30 to 60 V. The relay is not a circuit breaker.

Interlock mode is mandatory for a bidirectional motor because it prevents both direction outputs from energizing together. Set the mode, test travel and limits, and confirm power-recovery behavior in Aqara Home before the module is hidden or bridged to another platform.

## Matter carries less than Aqara Home

The normal setup order is Aqara hub first, T2 second, Matter sharing last. Update a compatible Aqara Zigbee hub, add the relay in Aqara Home, install current relay firmware, and make both channels work locally. Only then expose the accessory through the hub's Matter bridge and inspect what the receiving ecosystem created.

Aqara names Apple Home, Google Home, and Alexa for T2 and includes SmartThings and Home Assistant in its current Matter guidance for bridged Zigbee devices. That establishes a supported route, not identical feature depth. The product pages do not provide a platform-by-platform table for two-channel, dry-contact, and motor configurations, so channel layout, endpoint type, names, and automation capabilities must be checked in the app that will own daily control.

Energy monitoring is a clear boundary. Aqara says it requires AC wet-contact operation and remains exclusive to Aqara Home, along with power automations. Wireless-switch mode also stays on the Aqara side and has its own power requirement. These are useful configuration features, but they are not reasons to expect an energy entity or scene-controller input in every Matter platform.

That division makes T2 most comfortable in an Aqara-centered home. Matter can put the ordinary controls into the household's main app, while Aqara Home remains responsible for pairing, firmware, operating modes, energy data, and troubleshooting. If the goal is to remove the brand app and bridge entirely, SwitchBot Relay Switch 2PM and Shelly 2PM Gen4 offer direct Matter-over-Wi-Fi alternatives for similar two-channel jobs.

## The support date belongs in the buying decision

Aqara's current stores list T2 at $34.99 in the United States, €34.99 in the European Union, and £34.99 in the United Kingdom. That is inexpensive for two channels, dry-contact support, energy monitoring, and a DIN-rail adapter, especially when a compatible Aqara hub is already running.

The low price needs one final check. Aqara's UK product-security statement for DCM-K01 defines the support period through December 31, 2026. The document does not say updates must stop then, but it does not promise support after that date. A hardwired module bought near the end of its stated window deserves a newer support commitment before it becomes difficult to access inside a wall or cabinet.

Buy T2 when a qualified installer has approved the circuit, the Aqara bridge is an acceptable dependency, and its specific wet-contact, dry-contact, or interlocked-motor role solves the job. Skip it when advanced features must travel through Matter, when the two-channel limits do not match the load, or when post-2026 security support is non-negotiable without updated Aqara documentation.
